View Full Version : My insurance agent hates me

My husband and I have had the same insurance agent for the last 14 years, and we are both named on the policy.
Our agent mails out address labels every year at Christmas time and every year it only has my husband's name on it.
The first couple of years, it bothered me, but now I just joke that our agent doesn't like me.
We recently got the address labels in the mail and I looked and sure enough, it just has my husband's name. I joked to my husband that our agent still doesn't like me.
I just find it funny, since I'm the one who handles all the business transactions with our insurance agency and I'm the one who signs the checks every month, but I'm forgotten on the address labels. :( ;)

When my husband and I first got married, we would get letters addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Hisfirstandlastname, which in no way addressed me as a person, only as a female extension of my husband. I sent letters to these companies requesting to be referred to by my own name from then on. Is it possible they automatically only address the male? I could send you a template of the letter I used...

When we bought the car, I was present throughout the process and involved, I signed paperwork right along with DH, and when the registration arrived, it was in his name only (at risk of sounding racist, wonder if the fact that the salesguys (used car) were Hispanic might have had something to do with it). When we get the registration renewal completed, we need to fix that little problem.

When we bought our car, my husband signed along with me, but the car ended up only in my name.

What does the title show? If it has both your names then I wouldn't worry. On all our cars and trucks the registration just shows one person (it might be an out dated database at the DMV/DOT). I think my truck has my wife on it come to think about it. Personally I don't have a problem with it, as I've been getting mail addressed to me as Mr. Ellen Tanasi for years.

We both signed for my husband's car, but because I had better credit, they put my name first. So, my name is the only one on the registration. And it expires on my birthday. I joke with my husband if he ever leaves me, he'll have to do it on foot. But then the house is in his name, so I guess that leaves me back at square one.;)
All of the bills come in Kyles name
I have rang and asked (politely) if both of us can be named as both of us earn the money that pays the bills
most of the agents are incrediolus as to why I NEED my name on a bill....
its partly pride, he is my partner, but we both pay the bills, I want that acknowledged! but mostly its because I have to have proof of shared bill payments when I apply for my permanent residency (among a bazillion other things)

Title also only lists him (mumble grumble).
