I just got my kids the PS2 game system for Christmas. I was looking through the box and I noticed that it has a Broadband setup and a network plug in in the back. I don't know much about this game system and wanted to know how to set up the network online ability. http://www.unixboard.de/vb3/images/smilies/sm-nachdenk.gif http://imagehost.biz/ims/pictes/209050.gif

The machine works, the setup was visually self explanitory. We have a very old (20 yrs) TV. When this tv came out there was no such thing as video games.

I am not the most technically gifted person but I know enough. My computer and my TV are at opposite ends of two rooms. I used to have direct tv and had a phone wire for that hookup, in order to order ppv. But will a cable hookup be the same as a broadband hookup. I have a cable modem but it is on my computer.

I don't like not knowing how to do this, I am allergic to electric shock and screw ups.

If anyone has any ideas, they would be most appreciated.

It has to be connected to your modem not just the cable line
If its not possible to run a long cable from your ps2 to your cable modem there are wireless ps2 modems you can buy i believe although i have no idea if their as good

Before you go all crazy to try to connect internet to the PS2. Unless you have games that will "connect" and use the internet. Don't bother. (there isn't that many PS2 games that use internet)

If you got one of those games, you need to get a router and run a cable from that router to the PS2. Plug the router into the cable modem box, plug the computer into the router.

err duh i meant to say connected to the cable modem through the router
stupid mistake on my part
but yeah while the internet feature is great for the games that use it, not all do, its mostly sport games that do

Don't waste your time or effort. The only online games that get heavy use is the sports titles. Anything else you will get MAYBE 10 players at a time.

I got Madden 07. I called my cable companies and they told me that I would need a router and enough cable to run it from the TV to my computer. My computer is on th other side of a different room. I'm not worried about it now. I don't even know how to play the game yet, so I would be easy meat to any advanced player.

I guess I should have asked my cable company first before bothering everyone else here.
