We had this on the site, a while ago, so I thought I would revamp it.

What are your quirks that drive you and others crazy? It doesnt have to be a huge deal, just those little things that make you wierd.

Ill go first.

When I eat candy, I have to eat the colours in a certain way, red, then clear, then blue etc For peanut m&m's its always green and orange first (to get right of them) then I can savour the yellow, red, blue and finally the most deliscious, brown. The most "natural flavour.....

see totally illogical and wierd! I know that they all taste the same but they just dont!

so fess up what is a wierd quirk

There are some things I do, and I have no idea why. Its just a weird compulsion or habit, and I've been doing it for so long that I really can't see myself not doing it until after I'm dead...

Some things drive me AND everyone around me crazy, such as the following:

-Whenever I talk on the phone, I MUST pace the length of the room for the duration of the conversation. I cannot sit still. It doesn't matter if I'm talking for 5 minutes or 5 hours. I will walk back and forth the whole time.
-Whenever I get nervous or impatient, I start pacing again- except the more nervous or frustrated I am with something, the faster I walk. I've caught myself doing it for hours at a time, when I finally realize why I'm out of breath and why my legs are so tired.
-If I'm not in a position to pace, I bounce one knee up and down really fast and bite my nails. I get worried that at any point I'll unknowingly eat my entire hand, so then I stop and calm down. For a minute...

Those are the things that make friends and relatives start pulling their hair out and yelling at me. "For the love of GOD. SIT DOWN AND RELAX!" they would say. Hehe... Like I said- I have no clue as to why I do this. Outwardly, I appear very calm, cool, and collected. I guess I just get nervous about lots of stuff...I know lots of stress is a bad thing, but all I can say about it now is that its given me legs of steel!

Other things that people laugh at when they see:

-When eating a meal, I can't "mix and match" the stuff on my plate. I have to eat only one thing at a time. Because of this, I don't care to eat things like stirfry or stew- because everything is mixed up and it takes too much time to separate everything!
- Also when eating, I'm compelled to smell every few bites and scrutinize whats going in my mouth. This, I know, stems from NOT looking at what I was eating some time ago and ingesting food that had, shall we say, gone bad. Nasty.

Oh, and even though I'm a GROWN MAN, I STILL feel like I'm going to get in trouble somehow with my parents when I do things like come home really late from the bar or belch really loud when I'm sitting alone in my home. And they live over 3500 miles away from me. Crazy Parents...

All right then... Now you know the awful truth. Your future EarthKing will be chronically pacing up and down his royal halls and sniffing every bit of food that goes into his mouth.

I crack my fingers, toes, neck, back and ankles. It drives most people insane.

Heh, I do most of that. My neck, back, toes, elbows, and my right knee. Can't quite do the left one.

I hate combing and cutting my hair. I prefer to just let it go wild, feels more comfortable that way.

You know how I avoid that crap? I buzz my head. Saves time and money. I do it to myself or I'll have some other family member do it. Less shampoo to be used too.

I could never do that. I like it when flops down over my eyes and down my neck. :D

I eat things like M&Ms in pairs (two chewed on left side of mouth, two chewed on right side of mouth), and colors must be evenly divided between sides (e.g., two red, two red, if only two red are left one red + one whatever next color is, one red + one whatever next color is).

I tend to divide food into even numbers of bites.

Haha, you people are weird :p

But okay I will confess - I also do weird things sometimes.
When I am watching TV and the commercials come on, I HAVE to get up and do something. I can't sit through them, even if it's just a short break. It's a habit, I sometimes just get up and walk to my bedroom then walk back and i'll be content.

I also have to smell my cutlery (mainly spoons) before I use them. It's my way of seeing if they are clean enough for me. Haha, i'm weird.

Oh and I won't go anywhere without some form of makeup on, even if it's just lipgloss. Just answering the door, or going to the gym without any trace of makeup on, makes me feel self-conscious. Okay that makes me sound weird AND a bit shallow...

I see a lot of OCD in these threads...

I eat gummy bears in a specific order; green, yellow, white, orange and red (the red ones are my favorite). Not all the time though.

I refuse to eat yellow M&Ms, Starburst, etc....not because I dislike lemon flavor, but because I dislike the collor yellow. Go on, take a moment or two for the sheer idiocy of that one to sink in.

Other than that, I am a delight to live with.

I absolutley cannot have any dirt under my fingernails.

When I notice it, like after I've been gardening, I immediatley pull out the nail file, clean them out, and wash my hands. I just can't stand it for some reason. I guess this isn't annoying to most people, but it sure bugs my hubby! He can't understand why I have to stop everything and clean my nails if they get dirt under them. Because its gross having crusty nails, that's why!! :D

I also cannot sit still when waiting on anything. If I'm sitting down, I'm bouncing my knee, can't help it!

I've got a LOT of quirks, but the ones that drive people absolutely batty are as follows:
1) If my hands are empty, they won't be for long. Anything pick-upable will be picked up and played with. Most of the time I won't even realize I'm doing it until I need to do something and my hand is full.

2) I love to argue. About anything. Really I think of it as debating. Sometimes I get a little to into it and people think I'm getting mad, but I don't take it seriously at all and it really throws some people. There have even been a couple of times I switch what I'm arguing just to keep it going longer.

3) Random Dancing. 'nuff said.

I have the annoying habit of "popping" my lips when bored, or during lapses of conversation, a la Donkey in Shrek 2. Drives my girlfriend nuts when we're talking on the phone...

I have to touch my wallet about every five minutes, as if confirming the fact that it wasn't stolen on the drive from home to work.

When at a fast food resturant, I always eat the food in a certain order-and this is the only time that I'll eat food in a pattern not resembling random. I must eat fries/side first, then burger/sandwich, then beverage.

Another one of mine is that if I have multiple distinct foods (e.g. meat, potatoes w/gravy, vegetable) on my plate, I will eat all of one food before eating any of the next, and so on (e.g. finish off the potatoes, then the meat, then the vegetable).

I won't eat orange or yellow Starburts.....I give them away to others.

M&Ms....I'll eat the red ones (because it's just chocolate after all), but I don't like the color red, but it's ok as long as I save the blue ones for last.

I hate odd numbers. I get so frazzled at work when my lot # is an odd number, or I'm on an odd numbered machine. I try to park at even numbered gas pumps (but I won't throw a fit if it's an odd # one and it's the only one not in use). I hate the number 5. My hanger # at work is an odd number. My locker # is an odd number.
(oddly enough, my favorite number is an odd number, but it was the year I was born in, so that doesn't count).

I don't like red. Red stoplights, red lipstick, red stop signs....I don't like red. Red makes me look fatter than I really am, not only that, it makes my skin look terrible. Red is very unflattering on me. Plus it hurts my eyes.
