On Friday, we had 14 inches of snow dropped on us. I'll post some pics later. I had to walk to work on Friday, and had some perscriptions waiting for me at WalMart, which is not quite in walking distance, at least not with this snow.

I had snow up to my bumper on my car. It was not going anywhere, but I needed my scripts!

So, despite my parents threatening my life if I picked up a shovel, and it totally being against doctor's orders, I went out this morning, with the intent to at least get to the point where I could try to get my car out.

After two shovel loads, I was huffing and puffing like a madwoman. Imagine my surprise when a backhoe shows up in front of my house!

Did I mention my neighbor works for the water dept with the City?

In a few minutes, I have a mountian of snow that rivals what I saw in Quebec in front of my house, and a driveway. All I had to do was get the snow from right in front of my car, and from under it, and I can go get my medicines!

I owe him BIG TIME!!!

Jenni, the  who's not going to die from shovelling snow!
(and that's not exaggerating. Three or four people have had heart attacks already. It's called heart attack snow because it's soo heavy.)

My Aunt called from Missouri yesterday and was telling us all about the massive amounts of snow that were dumped there. My Grandmother was trapped in her house for part of the day- couldn't even open her front door. Finally a work crew came by and she banged on her kitchen window until they noticed her and dug her out.

I asked my Aunt: "Now, don't you wish you'd moved to Florida?"
Her: "What's it like there right now?"
Me: "I have the AC on."
Her: *heavy sigh* "I should have moved to Florida."

My best friend lives in Sedalia, Missouri. They have 22 inches of snow. Sedalia hasn't even plowed. Since her and the husband drive regular cars, they cannot even open the car doors because of said snow. Not that it would matter, what with the city not plowing and all. Luckily her in-laws live nearby, and she's got plenty of food for the hubby, the baby, and the kitties.

My dad lives outside of St. Louis, where they got a LOT of ice, and as of Friday, about 500,000 people were out of power. It's nuts here!

Yep I remember! :) Good ol' Warrensburg. Found out my boss went to CMSU - oops, I mean UCM - as well. (Ugh...stupid name change!) I lived there about four or five years ago when they had the massive ice storm. THAT was fun. Fitz, my dorm, was the last to lose power. Me and my roomie had five people camping out in there. At 2 AM, our power died, so around 6 AM, I wake and realize Drew, my gay best friend, had crammed into bed next to me, as the temperature in the room had dropped drastically and he was sleeping on the floor. We got kicked off campus til the electric came back, and Drew, roomie, and I went to Roomie's parents' house in Kearney for the weekend.

Hmm I'm thinking I'm glad my flight got cancelled. Here I am sitting up in Canadaland, not a snowflake to be seen.

Ain't weather grand?

That ice storm can be directly blamed for me moving to Florida.

That's what Mom taught me to do! :D But my feelings won't be hurt if you share it with others.

It's supposed to snow here in PA on Monday. Very upsetting. Only good thing is I don't have to shovel snow at school! Yay!

You really don't get a good idea of scale, but it's a crapton of snow.

Is that a "crapton" compared to what we saw out the patio doors at the condo in Quebec? So say an Imperial crapton vs a metric crapton?

I'd say somewhat similar to Quebec crapton. There's people, not to far away from me that was literally snowed into their house.
