Today's Dilbert made me think about the job I just ended.

I wonder, is this true to some extent? As for me, I was always REALLY happy to be off work. I'm like, you have me for 10 hours a day already, I have enough money to eat and sleep, I'm done today!

In hindsight, I should have worked more. I have absolutely no savings from a job where I could conceivably have made $4000 a month (but the only guys who do that work every day for basically all available lessons and burn out after a couple of months)

I have that feeling when I turn down overtime. I go from thinking, "I've earned this time off" to "sitting around the house doing nothing is costing me $xx.xx an hour."

im in a slightly different situation but i feel the same way whenever im sent home early involuntarily
its different since i dont work all year but not that different at the time
also, my company tries to get people not to have overtime, ive only gone over 40 hours once and it was completely an accident neither the managers nor myself noticed
theyll send people home early if their going to go to overtime

Check your state's labor laws. Around here, if you are scheduled, and they send you home against your will they still have to pay you for the time you were scheduled. Most places around here will just find someone who will leave early voluntarily.
