Currently? Nowhere. I'm unemployed, thanks to my stores closing. Remember, I closed the Chesterfield store, had a few months of nothing, then got called to work at the West County store for a month, while it closed. I'm busy with school, and intend to get really deeply into 3D modeling as a full time job once I'm done in the next 12 weeks or whatever I have left.

Almost in the same boat - I work in a family-owned combo computer/vacuum store. My boss has left, and the building is up for sale. As long as noone buys the building, I still have a job. I'm starting to look around, but the job market around here is lousy. Until then, I'm doing the same job as my boss.

I start my new job on Monday-working in the parts department of a car dealership. I imagine that I'll get a few SC's, but I'll have to do a lot more explaining to make the stories funny. (What do you mean you don't sell clutch fluid?!?)

But my official last day at Crappy Tire is tomorrow-I may come back to it to earn a few more bucks, though. I may go back in time and dust off a tale or two from my time in fast food.

I'm in a grocery store for now, but I was in a dollar store for eight years, fast food off and on, sold roses in a bar for a while, did a turn at bussing tables back in high school, helped out with a couple of inventories, and worked in a cash office. I always put "like to learn new things" on my resume.

Well, just a few hints (any Canadian here not living in a cave should know what this place is) :

- the company that owns this company is 350 years old
- oldest company in North America and is also one of the oldest in the world
- sells pretty much the same type of stuff as Walmart, but does not have a "super center" type store
- has it's own restaurant, get the poutine it's delicious :D

I'm not afraid to say it straight out, especially as I feel everybody needs to know this is one of the worst places to work...Walmart gets all the bad publicity, but my store is equally guilty of many of the same offences against workers.

I work at Taco John's.. a much better version of the Bell, I have been there 12 yrs, I am currently the main night shift manager (yeah teenagers). Our store was named the number 1 store in the nation in sales, out of about 475 TJ's. We also get voted "best tacos in town" almost every year. The vote is from the Rapid City Journal that does a "best of" section every year. The public votes on the "best of" in different categories. I love my job but it does have it share of crazies..customers and employees. I am very proud of the work I do..but am back in school (at age 41) to change careers for my old age yrs. As you can tell I love to write novels..LOL.

I work at a Grocery store chain that is based in southern Indiana...

My 'real' job is On-air personality. I work at a radio station out at school, and I intern at a cluster of stations here in town.

I guess I'm glad I have had to work this shitty job and others because they have taught me a great deal of Public relation skills. I can now deal with listeners thanks to my grocery store experience. Plus I have an endless supply of 'people who suck' stories.

I went with "other", since I've been retail-free for almost 17 years now.

Back when I was still doing time... I mean working in retail, I spent about 2 years in a supermarket. After that, I worked for 6 months in a home improvments store. I didn't plan on that one being so short, but I got offered the job I have now, and of course, i took it.

I work in a call center in ND on an account for cell phone activations, which means I deal almost exclusively with the sales reps who work in the stores. They are almost worst than dealing with customers sometimes. Can you say entitlement? I previously worked in directory assistance and was routinely cussed out by people who didn't know the right name of the listing they wanted and thought that I should be able to figure out what it was called if they told me "it starts which an 'A' I think". I worked in a bookstore before that.

I have never worked retail. I have never worked fast food.

That does not, however, mean, I have not had my share of sucky customers. My experience with SC's is extensive, actually. Drumroll please, Maestro....

--just about 20 years in the restaurant/bar industry, as a cook (for just the first year), a waiter (way too long), a service trainer, and a bartender. I have worked for major chains for the most part, and worked with some of the best AND worst people you could imagine, and also waited on some of the best and worst people imaginable. Most of my SC stories come from this part of my life...not surprising, it being the majority of my work history. And yes, I have some stories about celebrities. Best thing about being a bartender compared to the others.....I can get away with being a smartass a LOT MORE!

--4 years DJing weddings. Yes, I was the Wedding Singer long before Adam Sandler!
--a few months DJing in a "gentleman's club" (i.e., strip bar). Better and worse than you think. Actually thinking about getting back into it do to a current opportunity...not sure, though.
--a year plus DJing in a (I shit you not) clothing optional rooftop bar. One of the more interesting jobs I have ever had, though not as many SC stories as the others.

--6 months in a call center for a major hotel chain. Stupid people take vacations too!

--1 month in telemarketing...for 4 different jobs. Wait, no sucky customers there...sucky jobs!

--and my Favorite Job of All Time: professional magician. From 4 years in a restaurant doing tableside magic to various private parties I have done, some amusing tales. Most of them great, some good, some downright wretched.

All this, despite having just turned 36 (or as I say, 21 for the 16th time), and still occasionally getting carded for drinks! (Today some women at my bar guessed that I was about 27. Ya gotta love it!)

One constant with all those jobs....CUSTOMERS SUCK! :D

New job? Can't say. Actually received a new handbook detailing how you can lose your job for posting about customers, employees, co-workers or the company in any way that reflect poorly on them. Not that I have much to post about anyway b/c I freaking LOVE my job now. But I'd rather not lose it over something so trivial.

I post mostly about my past experiences, that I should probably be going to therapy over since most of them still give me workmares.

I currently work in a call center that mainly handles emergency roadside assistance. There are other departments, but the ERS is the big one here. This is the first call center I've ever worked in. (Well, I don't count the breif stint @ a small call center doing outboud when I was 15 - I got fired after a month for lack of sales.)

I've worked in a parking department and usher department @ an arena. I've worked as a server/bartender for over 10 years (escaped barely alive), I've done household remodeling (my fave job EVER - no SCs, lots of manual labor), I've worked the front desk @ a Bally's Fitness (OH JOY!), I've been a government employee (National Park Service), Sales Coordinator for a Heavy Equipment company, nanny type person, worked for a construction company, ran a snow plow truck, and my first real job @ the age of 14was McD's. Good times.
