My computer was eligible for a free upgrade, and the kit came in the mail today. Gonna bring it over to my dad's this weekend so he can get it all set up.

Yep, got the Ultimate Edition running. I won't say its the greatest thing ever since it really isn't, but its okay. Got the copy a few days ago by attending seminars. Sadly, only one of the 6 sections I sat through were worth it. Another one might have been except I could barely stay awake through that one.

Yes, I've got Home Premium running on my laptop now, and I had the Release Candidate running on my desktop and laptop.

Any questions? Wanting tips? General bragging?

My husband has Windows 7 Professional and it's run pretty much perfect since he installed it. He didn't upgrade from an earlier version of Windows, though, he did a clean install; he read that upgrading frequently leads to major problems. On the other hand, a friend of ours upgraded from Vista and didn't have any problems.

I got Windows 7 ultimate. To me it runs faster and smoother than Vista. I still have a beta version on my main computer but I've got until next year to install it from scratch.

That's the one I have - upgrading from Vista. Haven't installed it yet...might do it tomorrow since my parents are going out tonight. My dad has the beta on one of his computers and he keeps saying it's worth upgrading. I sure hope it's faster than Vista. :)

I have Windows 7 Professional installed virtually on my MacBook Pro. I really only use it for programs that are required for school and some expensive software. I think it works fine, but like I said, I'm not using it a whole lot.

In my experience with the Release Candidate, it runs faster, but I believe that's because it is much less resource intensive. I cannot run Vista on my old laptop, but I can run Windows 7 without any problems (except for Diablo II which don't seem to run under 7. I haven't had time to dig up a fix if there is one...).

I think I'll be ordering my first copy through the school this payday, and another next, so I can update both of our desktops.

I sure hope it's faster than Vista. :)

They really streamlined the background operations with 7 as opposed to Vista. Is it as fast as XP? Not particularly, though it certainly can compete.

i'm gonna be getting a new computer soon and since i'm not cool enough to be able to pay for a mac, i'm getting one of these (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=Mini&series_name=mini110stb_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/Mini/mini110stb_series). it has windows 7 about which i'm stoked beyond all reason. my current lap top has Ubuntu, which is all well and good...but it doesn't work with my mp3 player and i'm not great at programing, otherwise i'd make it work.
...but anywho. i was playing with windows 7 at the store and it's really cool. better than vista. not as pretty...but that's to be expected.

My roomie has an HP...she said I can be the Windows 7 guinea pig and let her know how it is.

My dad has 4 computers going in the kitchen right now. He's upgrading mine, and their friends are here so he can fix the wife's computer (she got a virus) and the husband's computer is charging it's battery, and I'm playing on dad's computer.
