Question for Techies

My Dell's warranty just ended so, of course, I've got a hardware problem. :(

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm looking for a recommendation for a place to take it to find the source of the problem, even if I don't have them repair it.

Try Fry's, if you have them up there. I've taken the family Dell computer (tower/desktop) to Fry's twice to reformat the hard drive after it crashed. We didn't have adequate virus protection on our computer. Now we do.

The guys at Fry's were really helpful and very knowledgeable. Funny, I've never seen a sign that they're Dell authorized for repairs, but all of their monitors and keyboards in the repair area that were used to diagnose other computers' problems were Dell made. I had faith in them when I saw that. Never had a problem with them.
