Just curious what everyone's plans are for new years.
This year i'm throwing a party. and it's themed because... why the hell not?
lol theme that got decided upon (by me and my friends) is a pirate themed party :P
so come new years eve i'm gonna have about 15 - 20 people dressed head to toe in pirate garb. should be fun :P
what are you doing (if anything) for new years?

Being sick, most likely. As I have been since Saturday. I love NYE. I may spend midnight in bed. This sucks.
Also, I work NYE day shift and NYD day shift. Depending upon scheduling NYE, I could be at work very, very late, as I have on some big days. And then I get to open NYD. So even if I am miraculously cured by tomorrow, I may still not get the chance to celebrate in style.
If by some chance I don't feel like a warmed up party blend of shit, puke, and death, and I get out of work at a reasonable time, I shall probably join the hundred thousand or so visitors we get down here for this day on Duval Street, drinking, carousing, and generally being obnoxious.
You know....a typical day for me. With 100,000 of my closest friends!
I'll be annoyed I won't be able to see the blue moon....a "storm" is coming in. I'll hopefully be able to get to my bf's place before the worst of it hits. We do have plans to go to a friend of ours, but weather may prevent that.

I'll probably do what I've been doing since 2002. That is, stay home, watch Steve McQueen flicks, build models...and enjoy some wine. Oh, and I'm not going to watch the ball drop either.

NYE--work until 9 pm or so (the girl I'm scheduled to work with...the earliest we've ever punched out when working together is 9:15), then relaxing and attempting to get some sleep since I have to work at some point on NYD.

NYE basically working a 12 hour shift 5p - 5a
NYD: working a short (YEAH RIGHT) shift from 4p - 8p

Just me, Mr. Zel and Lil' Zel having a quiet dinner, and a glass of the bubbly stuff at midnight.
I don't have to go to work before January 4th - YAY!
Bosslady said that she eventually might have to call me in, in case the CW's scheduled called in sick or something - but I haven't heard anything. A pity, though - I wouldn't have minded get some extra hours.

Staying home on watching the Biggest Loser marathon on Bravo!, then switching over to the morbid obesity marathon on TLC at 4pm.
I'm weird. So sue me.

I'm staying over at my mom's for the night, my daughter and I are planning to finally sit down and watch "Twilight"...that's about it really. (normally we'd plan a party with the immediate family, but my sister's household all has the flu)

I'm going to Little Rock to hang out with a friend I haven't seen in a long time! Most importantly, I'm getting out of my parents' house. GAH.

Well, got some good news today. Tomorrow there are FOUR bartenders scheduled, rather than the usual three. I open, then the mid comes in at 5, as normal, then we have TWO closers coming in at 7. Three bartenders behind that bar is more than enough, and any more is a bit crowded, so chances are good that at the LATEST I will be punching out at 8-ish...and that's just if closing my stuff out gets seriously delayed, as I plan on having all my stocking done before the doors even open.
As for me going out....still battling the bug, whatever it is making me ill, but I am a bit better, as I got better drugs in my system (yay for better drugs!), but don't know how I'll feel tomorrow.
Of course, even if I go out and raise hell, I have to be vaguely intelligent about it, as I open The Bar again on NYD.....

So far I have no plans. Last year I went to my friend's for dinner, and she and her boyfriend (the rest of her family lives upstairs but her niece and nephew went to bed) and I hung out and watched the Twilight Zone marathon and sorta-played Scene It (we gave up pretty quickly on actually playing and just read off questions from the cards for a bit). I might call her and see what she's up to.
I don't think my roommate has any plans, either, so maybe we'll just hang out. I have Inglourious Basterds here to watch, too.

I'm usually working, but this year I am done at 4:30, and the party's not 'til 8:00. I will have time to maybe dress 80s-style, as my friends' theme is Michael Jackson. Not a huge fan, but my hair lends itself easily to the era. I don't have to work until 1 pm on NYD, and I don't have to work the 2nd job at all this week. So, yay for me!

I'm the closing FES and we close at 10pm so I'll probably be out of there at 10:30 or later. Then I'm heading to a party with some co-workers. So I won't have much party time before the ball drops, but that's ok.

I'll have the most exhausting day of my life tomorrow; work starts at 5.30AM for the breakfast bar. I should be done by noon -- If I'm lucky.
Now this is the fun part.
After work I get to go home, pass out for a couple hours and go BACK to work at 5pm until 11pm.
When I'm done with THAT I get to go to a party. This is my first New Years party. I'm hoping I'll be awake enough to have fun. (Thankfully, I don't have work until 3pm on the 1st.)

My plans? Well, I'm going to leave the house for the first time since Christmas Day (apart from one grocery trip), I hope. I plan on seeing a movie at West Edmonton Mall, probably Sherlock Holmes, likely around 3pm. After that, I plan on going home and fucking around by myself because all my friends are assholes who didn't even bother to ask if I'd like to head out with them.

I will be reading Customers Suck and probably playing RoM since I'm laid off until mid- January and money is exceptionally tight.
Not a problem for me though- I haven't been a 'partier' for many, many years. :D Although, I do want to see the Sherlock Holmes movie... let me know how it is Broom. :)

The plan is, once I get off from work (I will have to work late because it's Month End bookkeepping stuff and then Year End bookkeepping stuff that needs to be done) I'll have a bit to eat, to go to the gaming club to play Magic and drink beer.
It's been a tradition that all the regular players (who are able) play one last game of the old year and one first game of the new year. The winner of the last game of the old year gets bragging rights, and the winner of the first game of the new year gets targetted for destruction in every game from then on until the year ends...
Looks like we are getting light snow all weekend.....nothing bad in the least, but CT cannot drive in snow. grr

I am still feeling not all that great, though perhaps somewhat better than I have in days. Still don't know if I am going out after work, though.
This will be my 11th NYE in Key West, and I have gone out on every one of them, even the few that I worked (I always managed to work a day shift the few that I worked...I have almost never worked NYE in my life.) To give you an idea of how foreign an idea it is for me to not go out on NYE, the last NYE I did not go out was when I was at a wedding on NYE...in 1991. The last NYE I actually stayed home and didn't do anything special would be NYE 1986. I was 16.
No, I have never before been sick on NYE. I hope to feel much better in 12 hours.
We'll see.
If you see me posting on here late this evening, you'll know that NYE 09 was not a happy one for Jester. :(
I plan on going home and fucking around by myself because all my friends are assholes who didn't even bother to ask if I'd like to head out with them.
Well, you could take the opposite tack, and ask THEM if they'd like to go out with YOU. After all, they may be thinking you're an asshole for not inviting them out, ya know. Just a thought.

I'm going to bed! at 9! HAHA!
...but the stupid fireworks show at the park is probably gonna wake us up at midnight....
The Beau has to work early tomorrow... so no party for us. Maybe I'll break my no drinking for me rule, and mix us up some new years cheer.

My husband and I went out for lunch earlier today, and we are going to a friend's place in a little while for a small party. It sounds like it's mostly just our D&D group and one or two other people. We'll play some New Super Mario Bros. Wii and have some snacks and cookies (I still have a bunch left that I made for Christmas) and just hang out. My husband and I don't drink, so we'll just bring un-spiked eggnog to toast with at midnight.
Tomorrow we might go out to a Mexican place that I've been eying up for a while now...if I can convince my husband that Mexican food won't kill him. :D

I get to work until 6:30 tomorrow morning, so I'll be sitting here watching year-end jobs run more than likely.
D is going to a get-together (not really a party) with her Anime group for the turn of the year, keeping herself hopped up on DayQuil to keep herself from hacking up a lung. (everybody knows about her, and have promised not to get mad...)

Well, I made appetizers and got dressed for the party (not 80s--didn't feel like it) and I am having a reaction to the wheat and alcohol I consumed for dinner. I should know better. Guess I'm staying home. Miss my friends, but I just don't feel like going anywhere now.

Well I worked NYE until 4pm. Had tea, phoned the lass who's on holidays at the moment then spent the night watching The Big Bang Theory.
Today (NYD) I had 15 people coming for lunch. Roast pork with all the trimmings and treacle sponge for afters.
Then spent the afternoon playing on farmville, sleeping and waiting for Dr Who.

Well, the streak is not broken. I still have not stayed home on NYE since 1986. While I was not 100%, I was feeling much better NYE, and rather than get out at 7ish, they cut me at 5ish, which was an unexpected bonus. I waited for my friend to get off work at her bar, then we went to dinner, then out to a couple bars, had fun, had some drinks, then I went home at about 1:30 am, rather than my usual closing of the bars at 4 am, because I was still not 100% and, frankly, because I had to open the bar on NYD.
But I had fun. And I no longer felt like Leftover Death.
Except, you know, for the fact that when I asked them what their plans were they already had them. So, this is one of those times you get to be horribly wrong.
Which is why I always reserve the right to be just that!
I shoulda celebrated for England time or something...
I actually meant to call my sister in England at midnight her time, which was 7 pm my time, especially since I got off of work early....but I got distracted talking to people, and forgot until about 7:30. Whoops!

I ended up having to go to bed early, as I had to be at work Friday at 7 (due to MA being given New Year's off,) so I had to miss watching the ball drop and hanging out online that I had planned.:(
And I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge that I was saving for New Year's that's still unopened . . . I think I'll save that for the day I make the last laptop payment later this month instead.
We did make to the party....was rather fun....we got home around 2am (we are usually wimps who crash at 11)
Spent New Years Day inside all day....just chillin in out PJs, watching Fraggle Rock and To Wong Foo.
Saturday was dinner at his parents (where his dad is trying to get me plan a suprise party, oh vey!)
Sunday was shopping (new hiking jacket)
All in all....a good way to start the New Year

Well NYE at work was INSANE!! Seriously I've never seen it THAT busy on NYE before. At one point we had every register open with lines backed up to the aisles for a good hour or so.
But I had lots of fun that night hanging with CWs. We did a lot of talking which mainly consisted of bitchin about certain Co-irkers and people in management. Plus alcohol of course, which made things so much more entertaining.
