I don't know where there all coming from. I kill one and there is another one to take it's place. There like James Bond Knats, they never die.

I think I actually brought them in. I went to a physical therapy appointment and they had an unusual infestation of knats. They don't know why, they said that they have no food nor fruit in the building, but there were alot of them flying about. I had killed many in there and shoo'd alot more away. I thing they either got into my hair or on my clothing somewhere and came home with me.

They are annoying, I can't get rid of them.

Needless to say, I won't go back. I am not going to a place that has bugs like that. To me, it doesn't appear very sanitary. They said that they called an exterminator, apparently it didn't work.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get rid of them, without having to call an exterminator??

I hear they can breed in drain traps where organic grime builds up. I had a lot of them before the real cold weather set in. I found that pouring boiling hot water down all the drains and setting up fly tape greatly reduced their numbers.

I was actually told they come in through a storm drain. (apparently they can swim) If you pour some cooking oil in it, it stops them.

As I can't see the pests that are bothering you...

If they are fruit flies, then yes, keeping your drains cleared, disposing of any fruits/vegetables/potatoes that are sitting out, and getting a few fly traps should help. The adults I *think* have a life span of about 8 to 10 days. So long as you can keep food sources/breeding sources unavailable, once they die off you should be fine.

If they are gnats...I can't recall what to do about those. Did the office you visit have alot of houseplants? Sometimes the gnats will breed in the moist soil...gah, I had that problem once and for the life of me I can't remember what I did to get rid of them.

we were having that problem a couple months ago. so one day, fiancee put dirty cat litter into the trash can, left the lid off, waited for the gnats to go to the cat litter, and then closed the bag and tied it and put it outside. it actually worked. before that, we had fly traps. it got a bunch, but didn't take away the problem...

AAAAGGGGG!!!! There attacking me!!! IIIIEEEEE!!!!! There all flying around my face and trying to get into my mouth!!!!

They seem to be really concentrated around my computer and my loveseat by the window. I have just slapped myself in the face for the fifth time. I think it is time to clean off my desk, there is no telling what I may find under this mess. I did clean it off the other day, I had forgotten what color the top was.

Gnats like warm air pockets, which is why they congregate near the window. Not sure how you would get rid of them. Maybe cool down the house and open the window?

Gnats are a lot like mosquitos they're attracted to your breath specifically the carbon dioxide or monoxide (which ever we exhale). If you stop breathing they'll leave you alone.:D
