Hi guys.

A drive I had my electronic format of tax returns has crashed.
I have all the tax returns of my life :) in paper format, but want to get an electronic copy of everything to burn to a cd somewhere for storage.

I know it costs $57.00 PER YEAR from the IRS - is there a way around that?

The new all-in-one printers (HP is my preference) have document feeders which will let you mass-scan pages. Undo the staples in your paper copies and feed 'em through. Don't get a cheap printer, expect to pay at least $120; but you'll still have the printer after your scanning is done.

The Shadow is correct about that. If any of your returns was done at one of the chains, you can go to there for your old returns--most indies also keep such client files.. FWIW you only need to keep 7 years of records, at most. Mrs. TGK and I add a shredding session to our New Year's cleanup.
