Well, I'm pretty sure that my co-workers are cursing my name right now.

I went to work on Friday for a 8pm to 4am shift, and ended up having to leave at 1030 because my right ankle and knee were causing me trouble, and that was also causing my left foot to cramp something fierce. I spent most of yesterday with my leg elevated, hoping that it was a passing thing. Finally broke down this morning and went to the hospital. Somehow, I've managed to sprain my ankle without knowing what I did to it.

So I got to call work today and tell them that I'm not supposed to be standing for two-three weeks. Uhhh...that is *every* position! We have no sitting/office positions. After all, you can't run the coffee bar from a chair. That means being out completely over the holidays. :ashamed:

I don't imagine they'd let you just run register with a stool, eh?

That would make sense, but you never know.

At Goodwill, they let one of the male cashiers use a stool when he had a broken leg.

Aww, let 'em get mad. Not like it's your fault that you sprained your ankle.

Frankly, they can shut up and deal with it. Had a girl that no called/no showed at the restaurant I was working at on a busy saturday night (she was a hostess, and this was when I was a hostess as well). It was so bad, as there was only me running the front while a manager was running around looking to see what was open. I felt violence towards her until the manager got a call. She was in the emergency room due to an allergic reaction. It happens. Sure I was irritated, but at least we had a reason, a why, and it was a good enough reason, not, "Oh I didn't feel well aka I'm hungover" like we used to get.

Hell, I broke my toe and couldn't walk for a week. The schedule was up, but there was nothing I could do since I was a waitress. There is no sitting down there either. Too bad for them, and they learned to deal. Just make sure you get a doctor's note.

Luckily, everyone so far has been pretty cool about it.

I stopped in just a bit ago to find out how thing were going with getting my shifts covered and to talk to an actual manager vs. the busy shift leader that I called last night. They already have all of this week's shifts covered, so I had them print me out next week's and the phone listing and told them I would see about getting the shifts covered for then. Plus I was able to talk to the store manager about having my first couple of shifts start as half shift to let my leg get back in the swing of things before having me stand eight hours.

The only paperwork that the SM asked for was my disability determination from the VA to update the EOE paperwork for the store.
