I was feeling good this morning. I made my wife a good breakfast, sat down and was about to play some WoW when I get a call.

It's my boss.

I'm being fired.

Christ.....

Over the freaking phone? :jawdrop:

You must work for a classy place. And professional, too.

Wow.

I'm sorry.

I don't know, really. I've made some mistakes but what do you expect from 3 hours of training and then "read this for everything else"? Hell, The worse I did was yell at someone who was cussing at me, which they said was fine.

I had a feeling my immediate supervisor, not the boss who called me (he's the CEO), wasn't liking me. But she had just had surgery and was in a lot of pain, so maybe I was just being paranoid.

Apparently not.

The CEO of the company fired you over the phone? While you were AT HOME?!?

Wow. I nominate that frakwit for Boss of the Year!

That's bullshit.

Firing you over the phone, not even telling you why, and I'd bet their "reason" is as lame as how they handled this. :wtf: :headscratch:

What was the supervisor's surgery? A (failed) attempt at implanting a heart?

Sorry this happened to you, Nurian. :(

Sorry to hear that man.

As to being fired by phone, it happens in a lot of places. I was let go from my position as a contractor at IBM the same way. Got a call on my day off and was asked to meet my rep (from the contracting company) at the facility to pick up my personal effects from my locker (it was locked and they needed my key).

When I went in and finally received my stuff, I had to make the manager who brought it to me wait until I sorted out what belonged to me, and what was procedural notebooks that was confidential to IBM. I told him they didn't want me taking that stuff.

The reason I was let go? They wanted to replace me with someone they could pay $2.50 per hour less.

Awe man. That's just shitty. He fired you over the PHONE!? That is Just Not Right. At least my boss has the balls to fire me in person.

Thanks for the support, everyone. I'm trying to stay positive, we have enough to pay our bills and with a little finagling, we should be okay until I get another job.

I hope.

Don't forget to file for unemployment. If they can't produce documented cause for firing you you'll qualify.

Don't be discouraged because you *think* they *might* produce cause. The burden of proof is on them. If they can't tell you why you were let go, they can't tell the investigators why either.

You have nothing to lose by applying. If you do qualify you've just stuck it to the bastards and you'll have something to survive on while you look for other work. If you don't qualify you've lost NOTHING by applying for it.

But you definitely WILL lose if you don't apply.

Damn Nurian I'm sorry :( Being fired over the phone is a classless and cowardly thing for them to do.

I second what Dips says file for unemployment.

Hey do you guys think that Nurian should go back to that place to find out why he was fired? I think he should but thats just me. He could at least point out to his boss that he had the cajones to do it in person.

Keep us updated on this.
