Yep, my Mom saw a dog digging through a garbage can and decided that it was lost and hungry. So she stops, goes up to it and tries to pet it on the head. <shakes head> Did she talk to it or let it sniff her before petting it? <sigh> Of course not. :banghead: She just stuck her hand into the can and went to pat it's nose.

Two ladies walking nearby knew where and who the dog belongs to and they let Mom call Dad on their cell. My Dad is furious! For a good reason, Mom is one week out from her 3rd round of Chemo and her white blood cell count is at its lowest point and she also knows better than to do what she did. He orders her to go see the Dr. and to make sure they call her Oncologist to see what they can give her that isn't counter indicated with her Chemo.

The guy who owns the dog called up Dad to apologize and Dad told him that is was all Mom's fault and that she knows better and Dad just wanted to make sure the dog had had all of her shots - she did.

Mom's lucky that only the skin on one of her fingers was broken and it took two stitches to close. Dad's taking her to the Oncologist again today so that they can check her finger and do more bloodwork on her.

Dad's madder at Mom than he was when I told them that I had gotten bit by a squirrel - 4 years after the fact.

Glad you guys aren't the kind of folks, like around here, who immediately think to kill the dog when someone gets bit. It usually is the humans fault.

Glad to hear it was only a minor injury, too. :)

And thank goodness your mother appears to be alright! I wouldn't be too harsh on her for it, though. Although a lot of times on this site we mock people for not using common sense, you have to admit, there's times when we all do stupid shit without thinking.

I have a lot of common sense at work and know it's dangerous to stick my fingers into moving machinery. It was almost time for first shift to come in and I was in a huge hurry to get my current job done to make my nightly numbers higher. So I tried to slide a panel out of my machine and nearly got my hand stuck in the conveyer belt. That was extremely stupid and I could have been seriously injured. I knew better, but I did it anyway.
