Did anyone else watch that game last night? Wow! I have nothing against OU, but I really was rooting for the little guy in that game.

Who expected BSU to beat Oklahoma? They should have won it outright, but they let OU come back on them.

Now if Wake Forest can win and Notre Dame can pull one more out of their collective arse then I will be a happy girl. I'm not expecting anything from ND, though. :(

Go Bucks Beat Florida

That's a tough game for me to decide on because I loathe them both equally. ;) I really didn't have anything against OSU until earlier this year when one of their players started mouthing off about Notre Dame and our coach and just generally making an ass of himself. I have a problem with people like that and especially with coaches who let their guys get away with shit like that.

Last year when ND lost to Michigan State and they had the nerve to plant their flag in the middle of the field in ND Stadium and John L. Smith just laughed at them I was seething. I was not at all upset when he got canned this year. These coaches want to complain about the behaivior of their players, but when they don't do anything to stop them, of course they players are going to go nuts and start acting like a bunch of animals. Step up and take charge. I like Virginia Tech, too, but even Coach Beamer was pissing me off with Vick. At least he got it together in the end and kicked him off the team for good, but he never should have let it get that far to begin with. *Sorry, that just sort of went off on a tangent.

Behold, the Power of the Smurf Turf!!! :worship:

(For the uninitiated, Boise State's home field turf is a brilliant blue, with orange markings. Seriously. :) )

You know, I love these threads because i understand all the words perfectly, but i don't have the faintest idea what anyone is actually talking about. American football? Baseball? Golf? Tiddly-winks?

 Sorry, BarefootGirl...this one's about a college (American) football team. Boise State is a small school, and Oklahoma is a huge football-powerhouse in the heartland (cue appropriate stereotypical theme music). So this would be something akin to, say, your local club footy team besting one of the Premier League teams.

So basically Idaho stomped Oklahoma?

ME!!!! There's no "where did they come from" question -- they were good all year. They *are* undefeated afterall. Most people just weren't watching. :p

I, personally, wish for a tie in the National Championship game. Cause I think it woudl be funny for there to be only one undefeated team in the nation and for it to NOT be a national champion. The BCS is way screwed up.

However, I refuse to actually root for Florida and hope for them to win. I hate Florida with all the firey hatred of a hundred hells. I haven't been to Disney since I was six because, once I learned football, I refuse to set foot in the state.

Yes, I'm a bulldawg at heart. I hate Florida and I hate Auburn.

Aren't you also supposed to hate Georgia Tech?

As a lack luster Volunteer fan I don't blame you much for the Florida hatred, although with Spurrier being gone the rivialery has diminished somewhat. As my grandfather attended and my daughter is attending UT I'm somewhat linked to the place, my alma-mater is considering getting back into the football business (ETSU). I really hope they don't because when I and the wife went there the team was terrible. The most prevalient cheer was "OH and ten once again".

I guess in my old age I've come to not care much for college or professional sports too much hype, too much money involved, and too much bad behavior by the players, coaches, and management. When a multi-millionair strikes for insufficient wages then it's time to step back and re-evaluate the whole structure. I did and I decided that they and I can do without each other.

Yes, and I do, though not quite as much as I went there (long story short: punishment to my parents). So I root against them, but my hatred of them isn't anywhere NEAR that of my hatred for Florida and Auburn (I'm also a Bama fan  )

And also, I'm not a huge fan of pro. I like college because the people *I* know that play it play it cause they love it, not because of the money. It's about the game, not the millions.

When I was asking where did they come from it was more along the lines of all season. You expect to see OSU, Michigan, Alabama, etc. in the bowl games, but not Boise State! We caught a couple of their games during the season and they are a very good team. They definately deserved a bowl game.

I agree about the BCS, too. I don't understand why a "playoff" or a tournament style national championship is so horrible. Every other major college sport has a tournament that works well (hello, Final Four, anyone?), and every other level of football has a tournament to determine a champion. Even Pop Warner football has a tournament. A playoff would allow smaller schools like Boise State to "control their of destiny" so to speak. I just dodn't get it, but then I'm not a voting member of the BCS, either.

Boise State, IMO, got lucky. They got Oklahoma to bite on 2 or 3 trick plays at the end. Anybody can beat anybody.

I was in Vegas on vacation this week and happened to catch the winning two-point conversion. Seemed like the entire casino went up for grabs. Some people must have made an awful lot of money on that game.

Yes, they're a very very good football team, but do they make it to the BCS if they are in a conference like the Big Ten, the Big XII, the SEC or the Pac 10?

Oh well, at lest my Badgers won despite playing like dog crap for the entire second half (launches into lusty chorus of "On Wisconsin").

As for the national championship game, I got to swallow my pride and cheer for Ohio State. Big Ten pride.

Lastly, LSU looked very good the other night ;)
