Had a gentlemen come through my line today who needed me to look up his Rewards Card. He gave me his office phone number, which brought up three listings

Me: OK, I have "Lynn," "Christopher," and "Leslie."

Him: Well, obviously I'm Chris.

Me: Well, "Leslie" goes both ways.

Him: Yeah, though I don't know about HER!!!!!

Me:...................:ashamed:

Oops. Dan (ASM) starts laughing.

Me: Well, that's not what I meant.....

Him: *laughing* I know.

Heleft, and then Dan and I had a good laugh about it.

The guy I share an office with is pretty quiet, reserved, not at all flamboyant or boisterous. He's very smart and has a dry sense of humor that he doesn't display too often. One day he was in the hall talking to his (female) assistant and several of us were in earshot. He gave her a long series of tasks, then thought of yet another job. He started to add this extra job by joking "While I have you on your knees..." His assistant and the rest of us instantly burst out laughing, it took him a moment to realize the double meaning, which made us laugh even more.

I can only think of one, and this may be spelt wrong: game show host, politician, and football player Lynn Swann.

Anyway, lucky Leslie...

Many Light Years ago, in the fourth grade, my male Teacher's first name was Lynn.

He was mean, and I always attributed it to him having a "girl's" name!

Actually, I have heard of a few men named Lynn too......

My rather large, beefy, agriculture-teacher uncle is named Shelly Lynn. He's named after my grandfather (Jack Lynn) and great-grandfather (Shelley, named for the poet Shelley). He gets double-takes on his name all the time.

My husband's first name is Lesley. It's sort of a family tradition to pass on either Lesley or Herbert. Needless to say he got crap in school and goes by his blissfully mannish middle name. So when we had a child he decided the tradition stopped here. We would name no son Lesley, instead we named our daughter Leslie and when she gets old enough I am sure she'll try to take daddy's credit card for a spin and have no problem! We didn't think of that until later!

1st Grade: One guy and one girl in the same class. Both named Adrian. And may I just add, kids are cruel.

I met a guy names Bonnie (apparently, that is a guy's name).

Anyways, back to the OT....

Luckily, I caught myself before I uttered this gem at work the other day:

"I haven't had my hands in your drawers all week!"

I was referring to my colleague's candy stash, which he keeps in a drawer.

When working at the photo studio as mentioned in another post - we would pre schedule the Sr photos . . . the school would give us address labels and we would set the appointment and mail out a post card - of couse we would have alternate a day for guys and then a day for girls
I only had one Mom be above and beyond rude that her son Lynn was scheduled on a girl day. . . she said if their are two "n"s in the name it is masculine - I pulled out my Drivers License and showed her my full name which has Lynn spelled with two "n"s as part of it . . .she backed down when I asked if she was calling me a boy.

I have met males with the name: Kerri, Kelly, Erin, - there are alot more names out their that are not gender specific than people realize.

as for going back to the subject of this thread:I had a co-worker who would come looking for me and nine times out of 10 I would be in the supply area - so she would say my name - my reply "I'll be out of the closet in just a moment" finally one day I heard her reply of "I wish it were true"
