View Full Version : 65 degrees F on January 6th
It's early January, otherwise known is these parts (Pennsylvania) as "the middle of winter."
It's 10AM and the temperature is 65 degrees.
Looks like a great day for a picnic.

Yea, I live on the Jersey shore, right in the middle of it. High of 71 today. What a fun summer ahead of us.

What a fun summer ahead of us.
Good luck with that 50 degree jump between January and June.
This is why I'm glad Husband and I timed my pregnancy for the winter. I'm due in May, and should miss the joy that is the midwest summer. I'm hoping our second kid we manage to time the same way.

Myra, i kinda feel the same way. hey, i wont be extremely hot carrying a baby now! but then i started thinking, what if i step on ice, and fall? that was a BIG worry of mine. at this point, im not so worried cause of the lack of snow.
but the one thing im disappointed about it the fact that i can't show off my cute baby belly....:( . you should be able to get the chance though. my jacket is so bulky, you can't tell whats baby and whats jacket. its not freezing here, but still cold enough to wear a jacket.

When my husband and I were out at 7 AM, it was 65 degrees. We live in Pennsylvania too.

73 degrees here in Virginia Beach. We have all the windows open and are doing our "spring cleaning"...okay, except we're doing it in January.
This weather is freaking weird. I went home to Cincinnati for Christmas again this year- usually we get at least one good snow...this year it was all mid-50's and rain.
Cry. I want my yearly snow, SOMEWHERE.

Move to Colorado. I think they're getting enough snow this year for all of us! :p

It's 66 degrees right now here in Greensboro. It's expected to be close to 70 today, then more rain tomorrow.
We heard thunder yesterday afternoon while it was raining. Strange weather this is right now - there's an old saying that if it thunders in the wintertime, it will snow 10 days later.
And we haven't had any significant snowfall in several years now. We're overdue.

Well can you send me some? :P
I'm seriously bummed, I usually get my yearly snow (at least a DUSTING) in Ohio... that's the only thing I miss about that state- otherwise, I like my beach location. :D

65 right now in Boston :wtf:  Now I miss NM with the 2 feet of snow...
I've heard reports that 2007 will be the hottest year on record (wonder how the global-warming-doesn't-exist crowd is going to explain this).

Hmmm...snow in central Texas in the middle of January...it's possible....last year we had snow on Valentine's Day!

I think my folks finally figured that out by the time I came around. Older brothers were born in late August and early September. I'm a Mayday baby, myself.
I chose to have puppies instead of kids. :p

Monday forecast for here....
Blasting winds High: 43 Low: 35
Tuesday: High 37 Low 25
I told you guys if you open your mouths the Canadians were gonna kick the polar wind tunnel back on and blast you with their vast reserve of arctic air.
Dont believe me???? Check out Yellowknife's forecast. I wouldnt be boasting about any so-called "Greenhouse Effect" up there when the temp's not even expected to crack 0 Fahrenheit until the end of next week.

As my friend Sarah says: "it's El Nino! Get over it."
As my Geology teacher, Dr. G said in one of his lectures: "The temperature of the earth shifts every four to five hundred years." Let me tell you, he thought Global Warming was over-rated and that only "non-educated" and "non-geological" people backed up the global warming theory.*
Does anyone know why Orange County in the state of Maryland is called Orange County? It's because back in the 1600's and part of the 1700's, orange trees were grown there. Think about it. Florida grows oranges not Maryland. But some of the most popular orange groves in the "New World" were in Maryland.
*I'm semi-quoting Dr. G., I'm not suggesting those who believe in Global Warming are un-educated. There are always 2 sides of the same argument. Please don't hate me.

I wore a tank top and flip flops to work today. As well as wore my hair up (I have A LOT of hair).
The mall controls our a/c and they decided to be cheap bastards and not put it on today, even though it hit 74 outside (I am in SE PA).
I was so tired of hearing the customers complain about how hot it was in the store.
I finally had enough and turned to one of them and said, "try working here for 8 hours". At least you can leave to a cooler place. That shut them up.
Hehe, just realized, this was my last Saturday night closing in my store. Friday is my last day.
Happy dance. Happy dance.

55 and sunny is nice, but it is January. Guess it's good that I put off ordering turtlenecks, as it doesn't look like I'll need any.
(yesterday, I did think I was coming down with something, but it was probably random weirdness caused by being in stores where they had the heat on full blast although it was 65 outside and the doors were open)

What I can't figure out is why stores in Cambridge even felt the need to have their heat going full blast (hi, it's warm enough to have the doors open--these are smaller stores that can control their own heat/ac)

we've had some light snow here in omaha, the only signifigant accumulation was on new year's eve, I was pissed.
of course everyone's screaming "inconvinient truth" but this is a red state, I take all public opinion with a grain of salt

I'm in Jersey too... I can't believe how warm it has been. The other day I was visiting my BF and we had the windows and back door open in the house! WTF? Normally, by this time, I'm bundling up in three layers of clothes trying not to freeze my ass off...and hiding under as many blankets as I can once I get inside... too weird for me. (My Hunny insists this isn't weird...but he has lived in various states throughout his life...so I think his opinion is off... I've lived in Jersey for all of my 25 years- I insist this weather is damn strange...)
And it drives me nuts- the mall I work at controls the heating and A/C and it is waaaay too damn hot in there...they need to watch the temp outside and regulate the heat accordingly. ick.

Saturday was so georgeous here I thought I'd need to smoke a cigarette after going outside for while.
And I don't even smoke.
We had a 12th Night party this past Saturday and I set up the outside stuff for it in shorts and a t-shirt. It was something like 75 degrees. That's what the forcast said, but I swear it felt warmer. I was sweating. Maybe because I was working, I dunno.
Aaaah....I love it. If it stays like this, I 'll be happy. But it won't.

Right now its about 88 (ventura california) we have high winds coming in off the desert and that always heats things up. Its been in the 70's all weekend. But then again cold for us is when its in the high 30's in the morning when we go to work.

Bah....we turn the heat on when it dips below 65.
Floridians win.
