so it's been a while since I posted...good bad? who knows :D but I'm back, if only for a little while

anyways, new years, and parking in the city, always a great combination. If you want to get a decent spot in the city you really have to get in early and just spend the day there, or just suck it up and catch public transport. BUT without fail there are people at 8:30 still trying to get a spot...and I was witness to that madness...

8:30 rolls around, and I'm looking out from the apartment I'm in down at the street, and there are people parking in the MIDDLE of the road. Now this is a VERY narrow road where it's meant to be two lanes, but you really can only fit the one car down it, so people would drive in, stop the car and just park, which meant anyone in front of them who wanted to leave was stuck, and anyone that wanted to get home, couldn't get in. Was funny to watch, but I'm sure it was annoying for the people involved. There are also fights over people parking in residence spots...and BOY do I have a doozy.

A family decided to park in one of the residence spots at the apartment block I was in, and the guy that owned the spot was actually at a party in the court yard and saw this family park there and get out to leave. Guy storms up to them and demands that they get out of the spot..something about a friend coming to use it. Dad from the family refuses and they all leave...SO...another person that was at the party had a brilliant idea...he grabbed a candle and wrote in nice bold letters on the families nice BMW's window "DON'T PARK HERE!" ...now I thought that was ok...a bit of a prank, and well deserved, but he DID go a tad far when he went to EVERY window and drew something on it. anyways, Dad and mum from family come back...see mess...but the people who did it are no longer present...however...my bf brother and girlfriend are watching from the balcony...Dad looks up see's brother...and screams at him "AR****"..to this, the entire party return and start telling this guy off...didn't hear what was said...but the guy got out some bottle of whatever and cleaned his windows and left....BUT unfortunately MY car was parked just across the rod, and the Dad backed straight into it!  then just drove off...despite the whole party of people telling him to stop because he just hit a car! they got the number plate...but when I looked at the car there was no damage, fortunately so I let it go...but yeah...FUN TIMES!

That's pretty mild...considering what people do on my street...

There's an elementary school about a block from where I live. Usually, traffic and parking on my (somewhat narrow) street isn't too bad. Unless, there's an event at the school. I've heard horror stories about people filling up the entire school lot, and then parking up and down both sides of the street...not caring if they blocked our driveways  At least our solution is simple--call the cops and tow the bastards  Not only do they get a nice fine, plus the towing costs, but they get to explain to the cops why it was necessary to block someone's entrance. The cops in my borough are *very* strict about that.

i swear that people and aprking doesn't mix. we have alternate parking here. for a few months during winter, you are only allowed to park on one side of the street. the next night, you have to park on the other side. we are somewhat lucky, because we have a big park across the street, so we don't have as many people parking here. but we have five vehicles, and no driveway. now, our neighbor has one car, and a driveway. but she doesn't want to use it. she is afraid to back into somebody else. since the driveway is at the edge of our property, we asked if we can use it if she won't. nope. we can't use it.

so the other night, we came home from somewhere, and went to park. well, the neighbor didn't use the driveway, so she parked on the street. well, because the other four vehicles of the house were already there, parking was tough as it was. but then the neighbor had to park behind all of them, but not pull up far enough for us to park behind her, or didn't leave enough room for us park between her car and the rest. so we had to park way down the street.

also, when we have to park on the side of the house, we have enough room directly in front of the house to park two vehicles. we get extremely upset when we come home, and some idiot has parked in front of the house, right in the middle, so only they can park there, and none of the people who actually live in that house. parking is hard enough, you don't have to make it harder on us.

that actully reminded me of something, I heard my dad got fined for parking in the spot HE payed for  thing is, he has a garage, but it's too small for his car, so he parks in the spot he has in front of it. But apparently it's illegal to park their because he's bloking access to a car spot....thing is...it's HIS, he owns both spots???? but he's not spose to park in his own spot? so he got fined? so weird...I don't think you should get fined when your blocking YOUR OWN spot! not to mention the fact your parking in a spot you paid for????

Now that's messed up. I'm surprised nobody has tried to bust me for parking in my grandmother's spot at her building, since technically I'm a "visitor." The visitors are supposed to park around the circular drive at the facility. However, she no longer has a car, so I park there. Landlord doesn't care, as long as my car is between the yellow lines...but I'm sure some busy-body would cause trouble if possible

Things like that are *exactly* why I'm glad I'm not in an apartment or townhouse. Too many stupid rules like that :p
