View Full Version : It's (Gonna Be) a Boy!
Yep Husband and I went to the doc yesterday, and got the new sonogram. We were worried the baby would have a leg or something in the way, but nope! He waved his little thingy at us several times even after the nurse had already established that he was indeed, male. Apparently he didn't take to kindly to being woke up. (He doesn't tend to move around a whole lot during the day, so we think he was sleeping.)
Anywho, we're naming him Connor. We're pretty excited! Still due May 23rd, Doctor said that when they calculate the due date as early as they did mine, they do not change it. So early spring baby for us! :D

Congrats and yay!!! Aren't sonograms fun? Especially when you're lucky eough to find out what you're having? (My little one had her legs crossed so there was no way of knowing).
If Kelly hadn't been a boy, she'd have been a Connor!!! :)

My son must have done the same thing too, because they just couldn't tell. But everyone thought he was going to be a girl. The doctor even said so, due to things like the heart rate, and a few other things that went over my head.
Everyone was quite surprised when he came out sporting "luggage." I remember yelling, "It's a boy!", and then her raising her head up, looking at me with a puzzled expression and saying, "What?!"
My nephew was supposed to be a girl. I guess he was shy.
Connor is a nice name.

So many congrats! My little boy was the same way -- male and PROUD of it. I love little boys -- and I'm sure you'll raise a good one for that future generation of little girls!

Congrats!
My Pilates instructor is going to have a spring baby as well...she doesn't want to know whether it's a boy or a girl (more fun that way she says).
My dad says that if I was a boy, he wanted to name me Thor.

Nick always threatened to name any son we had Optimus Prime. I had finally compromised him down to Steven Rogers (he's a HUGE Captain America fan)
Congrats on the great news!
At least these days doctors can make a better prediction and sonograms are more precise.
Let's time travel back to 1986 when the doctor proudly proclaimed to my 6 month pregnant mother that I was (for sure) a boy, pointed at the screen, and said "See his penis is right there, he's a boy alright!".......I still wonder to this day where my penis went. My finger must have been in the way or something.
Then imagine the look on everyone's faces when out popped baby blas, a girl!

Congrats!!!!
Once upon a time, almost 28 years ago, my mother was told she was expecting a boy and a girl. Joy of joys! My older brother would have someone to play with (he already had 2 older sisters).
Then on a lovely early July day, there appeared beautiful identical twin girls.
One of my uncles was upset...something about the family had a bet going or something. LOL.
Hell, when my eldest sister was pregnant with her first, she was told she was having a girl.
My nephew had an awful lot of dresses to outgrow...which he quickly did. I tease him about this from time to time.

See, when hubby told me that he'd like the name for the baby to be Connor if he were a boy, that's what I thoght about.
I looked right at him, "Can't you just imagine everyone? Are you Connor? Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod?"
(As an aside note, my hubby is a HUUUUUUUGE Highlander fan - he loves everything highlander).
My husband grinned at me and said "Nope, he'll be John Connor" (with a really lame Terminator-Arnold S- accent you'd have the displeasure to ever hear.

Oh yeah, pray that little boy isn't a joker like my little girl. She held on for the next holiday after her due date. Which was TWO WEEKS after her due date.
I should have known then she would be a ham. When was she born?
Labor Day. (I'm sure he won't -- Memorial Day doesn't have the same amusement factor (c: )

But if he's like me, you're in for a world of fun!! I was due 12/14/1981, I didn't like the idea of being a Christmas baby, and New Years was too cliche, so I waited for Groundhog Day!! Yup 02/02/1982 6 weeks late, and no it wasn't a miscalculation in the due date, I already had 3 tiny little teeth cutting in my bottom gum already.
ETA: The Dr.'s thought that they must have miscalculated which is why they let me go as long as they did.

My brother was born March 10th. At any given time, Mom's due date with him was anywhere from early February to mid April. :headscratch:
I asked my mom and actually the due date(s) were given to be from Jan.28 - Feb. 26. That's still messed up.
We had an early sonogram done because of some issues they wanted to rule out (which turned out to be me being ultra-paranoid!) and they calculated a due date then. My OB-GYN tells me that when they do early sonograms, those due dates are the most accurate, so they are not changing mine. It's May 23rd!
Ugh...our friend just called. She and her boyfriend are my husband's bandmates. We have band practice at their house. Their 2-year old woke up with a wicked bad fever and backpain. He's going to the doctor today as the doctor is worried about meningitis. Great. I was never around the kid much, when there's band practice he goes to his grandma's house. But still. If he is diagnosed with meningitis, to be safe, I get to crash somewhere else until Husband gets the medical all-clear. Since I'm a whiney hormonal baby, I'll be depressed and cranky if this happens. My kitties are at home, and my hubby is at home! Oh well, we gotta do what we gotta do.

Haha I learned about that the hard way... I can't remember how many times my little guy squirted me.
What I did was, put the clean one under the one you're going to take off, undo the dirty one, wipe really fast and pull it out and throw the clean one over him. Someone told me to put a diaper wipe over him while I was putting the clean one on, but I found that just made a bigger mess.
Just wait until he starts rolling over or tries to crawl away when you're changing him... its a blast.
I used to babysit a little boy, and I learned quickly that anything that would deflect was handy. I used to use a washcloth, because it absorbed as well as kept me dry! :p
Our friend's baby turned out just to have a wicked bad flu, so I don't have to run off and hide from the husband! He's still feeling crummy, but I think all he's got is a cold or sinus infection, because he's not running a fever or getting the aches. His nose is stopped up and his head hurts, but that's it. So I've gotta stop off and get him some Dayquil and Nyquil. Then I'll be making tea and blowing kisses for a while! :p
