people log into our chat service to ask librarians questions.

Im a 21 year old female trying to find a book to read. But I can only read books that keep me on the edge of my seat. like twilight and books like a child called it. any suggestions?
That's kind of vague, to me.

What is the best time to have sex? me and cw are saying to each other, "you mean what time of day?" "you mean what age?" "I think we have to tell him it's inappropriate question."

TSA pros and cons I don't want to know what is TSA.

what are some things that franz schurbert did as a kid does you school not have encyclopedias?

who gets married in the end of Twlefth Night? project gutenberg will help you.

note, the only question I answered was the 21 year old (our website has a book suggestion page) and the Twelfth Night question, where I copied something from wikipedia and told her about Project Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2247 . I had a lot of questions (I dind't answer) like the franz schubert question, just with different people and what they contributed to science. These were obviously kids who didn't bother to do their own homework.

I would so totally be fired.

I'd be responding with links to LMGTFY (http://lmgtfy.com/) all the time.

I did something like that once (told a patron they could google their question and get an answer, forgot what the question was though) and since chat gets monitored my manager told me that that wasn't acceptable.

I just don't get why people get to chat but don't get to google.

sounds like she either wanted teen-paranormal books. Yes it's actually a category in some bookstores now. Maybe she'll like "The Host". ;)

when two consenting adults decide they want to. I forgot that is what I first said to my cws!

And that first person wanting something that keep me on the edge of my seat....last thing I would have thought of was Twilight. Maybe a Stephen King or Dean Koontz book. Maybe if she just asked for vampire books for kids.

Oh, another question (I didn't answer it) was some teen wanting books, but is too lazy to read, so wanted a chapter book. Considering "chapter books" means to me the 5-10 page books you get for kids learning to read, I just can't imagine a 5-10 page book written for teens. How lazy are you that you can't read more than 10 pages? Read Dear Abby or the comics then.

Chapter books are what we used to refer to also as big kid books. They are books that have actual chapters. you know, like Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Power Boys, Tamora Pierce books. If it only has 5-10 pages it isn't a chapter book. Its a beginning Elementary school book at best. Chapter books have a least 150 pages. (I'm too lazy to go over to my bookshelf and pull a few of my old Tom Swift and Nancy Drew books to check the page count - Yeah I read all the ones for boys also)

The 21 year old reminds me of a question I saw once in an advice column.

"Which bestseller should I buy?"

Anyone too lazy to go look for a book and too dim to know what genre they're interested in probably can't read anything more challenging than "Where's My Cow?"

"Where's My Cow?"

Is that my cow?
It goes "Neigh!"
It is a horse!
No, that is not my cow.
