This has got to be the worst days of the New Year for me. I am ready to scream at the next thing that pisses me off. In chronological order:

9:46 AM: I went out for a run and when I am just leaving my driveway, I slipped on a patch of ice and landed on my right hand. It hurts to move it right now (Typing this with my left hand nicely.)

11:30: Take a pain killer for my wrist and go to class. I commute to school and when I get to my right turn, some idiot is pulled over in the turn lane looking for something. For gord's sake don't pull over in a right turn lane and stop right there, just turn and pull of to the side!

1:00 - 2:30 PM: Hand is starting to hurt pretty bad. I go home.

3:00: Parents said they'd be home by 2 or 3, need them to take me to the doc because drving with one hand is too dangerous for me. No one is home, turns out they went somewhere a good 2 hours away!

When they get back, I'm heading to the doc and hoping my wrist isn't broken. Wish me luck guys!

I wish you luck on your hand.

I'd try soaking it in a sink full of hot water for about 15 minutes and take three ibuprofin pills to get rid of the swelling and see how that goes. If you can bend it then with little or no pain then it's not broken.

Just got back from the doctor. I have chances of a likely fracture and I have to go in for a CAT scan tomorrow to be sure. Right now, I am wearing a splint and it feels very awkward and itchy. The only thing I am upset about is the fact that I cannot play guitar, as it would've been a lifesaver had it been my leg. Oh well.

Pics of the splint:

I fractured my left wrist about 15 years ago or so. It did hurt pretty damn bad, but at first everyone thought it was just sprained. I then feel real awkwardly about 2 months ago and while I didn't fracture or break it, the pain is actually even worse then when I did fracture it. even after almost 10 weeks it still hurts. So for the record I would almost say that a fracture hurts worse then whatever the hell I did to it, but then again with all the arthritis it doesn't take much to cause pain.

Hopefully your's ends up healing quickly and the scan doesn't show anything.

FYI when I feel recently and hurt mine, it was my entire body weight falling on it (and I'm not a small guy 6'6") so YMMV.

Must be something about February. Last year on Valentine's Day my mom slipped on the porch steps and fractured her wrist. She said it was my fault because I didn't warn her that the porch was icy when I left the house. 3 hours earlier. I almost bought her a rock salt box with a little shovel for the front porch for Christmas this year...

I hope your wrist is feeling better :)
