For the last nearly nine wonderful years I've been blessed to have a beautiful wheaten terrier in my life named Kirby. He has been a blessed beast, though with a bit of a temper and who tends to be a loner at times. My parents will agree that he's always liked me best. An oddball dog, he loved rides in cars, twirling and rolling over for frosty paws dog treats, and getting his belly scratched. He'd get a case of 'the rips' if you gave him a bath, and he'd bark and go on guard if you asked him "Who's there, Kirby?" and pointed at the door.
One of my best friends, and most loyal companions, he has left us today to travel to better places. No longer can I cry out, "Give me a hug, Kirby!" only to feel his head drape over my shoulder as we drive along in the car, or over my thigh as he sits beside me.
...I miss him terribly.

Awww, I'm so sorry for your loss. *hugs* It's so hard to lose a pet.
My dog got put down a week before I came home from my first year of university for the summer. I remember dropping my bags and holding out my arms, waiting for her to come over, then I started crying.
Your life was the richer for having had the puppy in your life though, I know mine was.

I'm very, very sorry. :( You're in my thoughts- sending you hug vibes.
I know how awful it is to lose your best friend like that. I still get choked up and cry when I try and talk about Lady and she passed 2 years ago. I still call Rio by Lady's name sometimes.
And sometimes I see Lady- just out of the corner of my eye watching me from a doorway or a corner. Some people would say I'm crazy but I just know that she's my Girly- Girl and she'll always be taking care of me.
Good-bye sweet Kirby- may you rest easy.

I am sorry about your loss. Pets enrich our lives; in some ways, they're better than people. Your Kirby sounds like a unique and wonderful dog, and he loved you as much as you loved him.

Oh, so sorry, and he looked like a sweet dog too. He probably would like our dog Princess and they would probably would get along. Anyway I'm trying to prepare myself when she passes on since she's over 12 years old (human).

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to go through that, and I have no words of comfort.
I had to put my boy down a year ago on Good Friday. I am still heartbroken.
It's hard. I'm sorry.

So sorry for your loss. We're coming up on the 2nd anniversary of my beloved bichon's death. It still hurts sometimes like all get out. He was 15.
I came across the program I printed up for the memorial service we had for him. All my friends loved him and many came. It was a small get together in my living room. My friend sang "Angel" by Sarah MacLauchlin (sp), "Goodbye My Friend" by Linda Ronstadt and "Tears in Heaven" all of which she adapted a little for the occasion. My brother read the Rainbow Bridge story and I gave a heartfelt eulogy before some told their favorite stories and a couple of other poems were read.
We recently got a new bichon. He has mighty big shoes to fill.
