This afternoon I had to park my car in a multi-level garage. It was FULL so I ended up parking on the top level - which means I parked on the roof in the sun with no covering at all for my car.
There is an elevator at one corner of the garage. On the top level, there is just a small mechanical area above the shaft. Nothing beyond that but sky. Just as I was entering the car, I heard a woman's voice yelling "Are you going down?" I looked to my left and saw a woman and her teenaged son running up to the elevator. I so wanted to say that it actually was a special elevator that went up to the invisible building above us, but I instead raised one eyebrow and gave her a 'are you seriously asking that question' look. The poor woman only stared back at me and asked the question again.
Her son caught my look, comprehended the stupidity of the question and looked humiliated to be in her presence. He just told her to get in.
Man, I wanted to give a snappy answer, but I chose not to be cheeky this time.
