I need some opinions.

I went to a restaurant Saturday evening and got a steak. I only ate about half of it and wrapped the rest to go. Everything was fine with it, I just got full.

Anyway, today (Wednesday) I was eating the rest of it for lunch. When I bit into one of the last pieces I hit something hard. I pulled it out of my mouth and it turned out ot be a small clear plastic shard.

Here's where I need advice. Should I bother letting the restaurant know? I plan on going back (eventually, might be a little longer than I had planned) and I don't want anything out of it. It's more for their knowledge that I want to let them know. But I'm afraid they won't believe me, and I don't want to be a pain. If I had found it at the restaurant I would have let them know then, but since it's days later I really don't know what to do.

I think that as long as you don't turn into a gimmie pig and your main goal is just to inform management, they should believe you. I would call them and let them know that a steak you got on Saturday (try to give the time, if possible) had a plastic shard in it. They should believe you until you start asking for freebies because of it, I think.

Yup... let them know. I'm sure that because you're not coming to them with your hand out that they have no reason not to believe you.

Something similar happened to me at Hardees once. It was the Hardees on the way home from my parent's house, and I ordered the roast beef and fries combo dealie. When I got home and bit into the sandwich, something appearing very similiar to the cellophane wrapping (like on packs of cigarettes, to be exact) was poking out of the middle, right next to where I'd bitten.

I was very polite about bringing it to their attention, told them that I didn't want anything for free, just to make sure that it didn't happen again, in case a child were to have been eating that sandwich or someone else had eaten it and choked. I'm sure an employee who smoked probably opened a new pack, and I realize how sticky those things are, and it was probably caught on their apron and somehow ended in the sandwhich.

I still go back to that Hardees. It hasn't happened since. Being polite really helps!

Thanks for the advice. I think I will give them a call.
