The reason I am happy is that I just got my first Cadillac. Yes I know that sounds kinad sad that I am all excited and giddy like a school girl over a used rebuilt wreck cadillac but I have always wanted a caddy and finally found one that I could afford that is also in decent condition.

I was originally going to get a 88 crown vic for 600$ that this guy had in his yard to replace my car that slid on the ice and to its death. On my way to his place with the cash I saw the caddy sitting on the front line of the local buy here pay here place in town. It said $1000 and you can take it home on the windshield. This just called to me to stop so I pulled in checked the car over inside and out and drove it and basically did everything except tear it apart and rebuild it. I was looking for a reason to talk myself out of it but couldnt so down the 600 tax return went and the rest I'll have to pay a bit on but still a grand for a caddy that is in good condition is a nice job in my opinion.

Its a 1992 Cadillac sedan deville. Light Blue exterior and dark blue interior. Some slight body damage but barely noticeable. As well as a couple minor interior glitches which I shold have fixed before the end of next week.

I know some people get kinda snobby about rebuilt wrecks and used cars in general (One of my exfriends especially) but if you know what you're doing and willing to accept less than perfect you can get some really really good deals on some nice rides. And whats really funny is that I had gotten my tax return the day before they placed this caddy out on the lot, I choose the particular time of day to drive past the dealership as they had just put it out there. Almost like the universe was offering this to me. I love it when thigns go right for a change.

Sorry for bragging a bit about this but I am just sooo happy about this. It rides like a caddy should and feels sooo good. When I went looking to replace the redneck racer I didnt think I be able to jump so far up the ladder to one of the top ones.

Congratulations on the "new" car (Hey, it's new to you, right?).
That reminds me of a car we had when I sold cars. We got a trade in; it was a 20 year old Cadillac, in mint condition, with only 22,000 miles on it. And believe it or not, the person who traded it in actually was a little old lady that only drove it to church and the store. I think we sold that about an hour after we put it out on the lot.

Awesome man. I love my caddy, it's a 99 Seville. They eat gas like Star Jones does twinkies though.....

So I've aptly named her Cruella Seville.

Welcome to our Lead Sled Owner's Club!

Mine's a '93 Olds Ciera sedan, and despite several posts about recent troubles I had with her this winter, she's been a damn good car. $2500 five years ago, and she still runs and drives and cleans up fairly nice. I'm coming up on 233,000 (!) miles and all things being equal I figure I can get at least 250,000 miles from her.

It sounds like you know a thing or two about older cars, but if you're ever stumped trying to figure out this or that mechanical issue, let me know. I've taught myself a few things keeping ol' Red on the road this long. (Haynes manual and a set of basic tools for the trunk have gotten me out of many a jam.) For all the troubles GM has had these last few years, they've done all right by me. As I've heard it said, GM cars run badly longer than most other cars run at all.*

Happy travels!

*Pay special attention to my sig, it's certainly applicable. (I think Serenity was a GM product, actually.)

Blas & Knightmare: Thanks both of you.

Darth: Only if you lead foot it...Which means I've had to trade my lead foot for a iron one. Maybe someday I'll get up to plastic.:D I've yet to name mine. Though cruella seville is funny. Shoulda named it barber of for the cutting to your funds it does... ;)

Counterjockey: Thank you very much. I love big old cars. I've had a caprice (ex cop) a crown vic and a grand marquis under my belt among a few other beaters and general sleds and of course the legally required pickup truck.

Oldsmobiles are a good car too. I was kinda sad to see them just fade out with such little support of real fanfare. Sounds great. And yeah take care of somethign and it'll last a lifetime. Sounds liek you got a good one.

And yeah I love older cars because they are a lot easier to work on in general. Thanks for the offer but dad was a mechanic in the army and I learned how to turn wrenches at his side. Not to mention most of my friends and cousins all rebuild, build or otherwise keep their beasts running well past the sell by date detroit puts on them. So between all of us we should be able to figure out something. Maybe and if not we probably didnt need that part anyhow. :p

Oh most definately the Firefly class was a GM product. You could smash into things, have parts fall off and still make it home....
