Trouble with the art section

Hello moderator types! I just took a trip over to the Art section..I tried to post a reply to ArenaBoy's photography thread and got the following:

Designfox: you do not have permission to access this page...
and listed the two reasons.

I'm confused. I haven't had trouble posting anywhere else on the site today or any other time... :confused:

Can you tell me what's up?

We don't allow replies in that particular forum.

In fact, if you scroll to the bottom of the page of any particular forum, it will tell you what you can and can't do there, such as posting threads, posting replies, posting attachments, editing, etc.

Hmm? Oh, yes. We set it up differently to the rest of the board, so it won't be quite as intuitive. We turned on the rating system specifically for that so people could show their appreciation, rather than have a discussion on there (we're seeing how it works for the moment).

That's when reading the stickies that say, "How this forum works," is a good idea.

I find too many people see a stickie and ignore it.
There's usually a good reason why posts are stickied, so it's good to get in a habit of reading them. :)

Well, I'll be honest, I did read the one in the art section (I didn't check out the literary section until today-and that one directly states that replies are not allowed), but it didn't connect in my brain that "rating system only" meant, no posting replies. I should have read it more closely and looked at the posting rules at the bottom of the page. I'll freely admit it was an oversight on my part. Thank you all for clearing it up, and I'll pay better attention next time. :o
