And I took my 13 year old step son. We both enjoyed it immensely. Very good, manly movie. I told him to cover his eyes when the naked bits came on. He just rolled his eyes at me and we laughed.
Afterwards he told me he wanted to slaughter a village. Great. Just what a 13 year old boy needs; more testosterone.
Anyway, it was a great movie, and if you haven't seen it... DO SO RIGHT NOW!
Yes, that is a command.

It is not just a manly movie. I'm a girl and I ADORED that movie. It's not your typical war movie, just about the fighting. There is more there, story and background, and some actually very good acting. And the fight scenes are, in fact, incredible.
Besides, 300 spartans in little more than underwear and capes with rock hard abs? Can't beat that!

I have heard from a source I consider reliable that when they did screen tests of the movie, it scored higher among women than most "romance" flicks, including Titanic.
Oh, and ditto on the movie. Ignore the critics, this is a good movie.

I was cashing through a couple last night that had been to see it.
Him: "Yeah, it was awesome! The graphics were great and the battle scenes were amazing!"
Me: "I've been hearing it's really something. I REALLY want to see it."
Her: "It was a real ab fest."
Me and him: "....???*confused looks*"
Her: "You know... abs."
Me: *?*
Him: "Oh. Yeah. All the guys had six packs." *points at tummy*
Me: "Oh..."
She seemed disappointed that I wasn't awed.

We (the parents and I) saw it yesterday at the IMAX. It was fabulous. :D I'm a chick but I thought it was fantastic, given that I love fighting and could probably look at David Wenham's abs all day long, given the chance. ;)
It's a really great movie though. Great plot, not overdone, fantastic visual effects, and really satisfying ending. And that's all I'm giving away.
Now I just have to buy (and read) the graphic novel.

Not out over here yet, though soon...
I can't wait. I studied the history of this at school.

People keep telling me it's good, but I'm just gonna wait for DVD release.
Mainly to spite Knightmare! You cannot command me! Only the rubber pants can! :-D

But it's so much neater on the big screen with the surround sound, Broomjockey!! It's totally worth seeing in the theater, just for the pretty on the big screen!

Just don't go into this expecting a historical drama. Alot of it is pretty over-the-top comic book stylized action.
Fun though...:D

I'm trying to see this as a problem, yet failing.
A while ago, I bought the DVD of a film about it - one of those glorious technicolour jobs from the fifties with the orchestra in the background. Not bad.

In the heat of battle, I wonder what else would be hard, mmmm... I love big strong biceps (pervs http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/3316/tfr612ix4.gif)
I will wait for it to come out on DVD too. I have a 55' widescreen plasma flat screen, so it is just like being in the theatre.

Just got back from the cinema. Not bad, but it was rated a fifteen. I've seen films with less blood get an eighteen rating (over here, we don't care if you have adult supervision - if you're below the age allowed to watch it, you don't watch it).
Damn, but there were pecs aplenty, and no fur. My word, but the start of the film involved many instances of erect female nipples (this converted into erect male nipples later on).
There's a huge amount of graphic violence in there. They've added loads of blood sprays to the fight scenes - the way it didn't leave marks on the ground was a bit of a giveaway.

My husband refuses to let me watch it...Well, refuses to take me to watch it.
He describes it as that 'movie with the sweaty half naked guys in speedos.'
Sounds fine to me........:D

I've got a copy of the comic and from what I've seen so far the movie is a scene for scene copy of the graphic novel.
Not that thats a bad thing :D
