I need your help. I am going on a road trip at the end of the month with some friends and I've been left in charge of picking our entertainment for those who aren't driving. I'm bringing my laptop with me as we can watch movies and we all happen to be big MST3K fans. Problem is that we don't have any DVDs. So if anyone has their DVDs what would be the best ones to pick up? Thanks in advance folks!

I personally liked MST3K: the movie. That's a great one...I watched it dozens of times and I was still finding new jokes.

I think there are also some outtake DVDs...I don't remember the titles, but those are hysterical.

Hmm... otherwise I think my favorite episode was "The Final Sacrifice." It's this really cheesy Canadian movie that has something to do with devil worship. Another good episode was Red Zone Cuba...I don't remember what is was about, I just remember laughing a lot when my friends and I watched it. The Merlins shop of mystical wonders (think that's what it was called) was pretty off the hook, too.

The official site lists some, but not all of the DVD's released, but if you can find those eps anywhere they get my vote. :D

Among the MST3k movies that have been released on dvd, I have not been disappointed with any of them. I think just picking some random ones are good enough. For other bad movies to watch, I'd have to pull up my Netflix account and get a listing of what I've been watching (and there's some pretty bad ones in there too).

Among the worst I've seen:

Camp Blood (people on irc are quite familiar with my experience with this), a really bad rip off of Friday the 13th shot on vhs videocam
Anything by Ed Wood. On the box set, there's one called Night of the Ghouls. Probably his worst.
And there's lots of hidden gems among 50s B-Films. Extra points if it was directed by Roger Corman.

That's the best I can come up with off-hand.

I liked the Space Chief episode (dunno if that's actually the title), but mainly because when I saw it I was simultaneously obsessed with anime and Star Wars, and didn't much care for Star Trek.

Quick quote:
"Look, a breakdancing task chair." *hilarity ensues*

Thanks guys, I picked up a few DVDs and I'm looking forward to them. Now I need to go tell my boss that I'm Puma Man so I can get a day off. ;)
