I don't know if there has been a thread like this one before, but I was thinking about it today. I'm at home sick, and it's been nice to just lay around and be lazy. I made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which brings back loads of memories with every bite. :) My mom would pack one in my lunch every day and I got so sick of them that I just forgot that PB & J existed. So then I randomly bought some at the grocery store a while back and I've been hooked ever since. Reunited and it feels so good!!! (Please excuse the cheesiness; I'm not well).
Does anyone else have foods like these that just make you feel good about life in general?

Spicy beef ramen noodles. Snack brand only. Hells yeah.
And Dr Pepper. I gave up chocolate for Lent one year. I've tried to give up Dr Pepper about seven times and I always miss it too much. LOL

I have two friends over right now. One says instant oatmeal and they both say cereal.
Myself, I'd prefer popcorn, chocolate, egg matzah.

Homemade baked macaroni and cheese . . . must be cheddar cheese . . . YUMMY!!!!
Cook up some pasta al-dente - add half a bag of shredded cheddar and some milk and pepper, mix well, then put it in a pan and cover with the rest of the cheese and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes . . . BEST FOOD EVER!!! I dip it in ketchup, too, but I'm strange like that . . .

With the diet they put me on I can no longer have my comfort food - Reese Cups. I am trying to find something healthy to replace it with.

Tuna Pasta salad. I use elbow macaroni or any other type of small noodle, mix in 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 cans of tuna and mayo, then I sprinkle in some celery flakes. Yumm-o! (To quote Rachael Ray).
Also I'll eat PB & J or fried egg or PB & Mayo sammiches! Yummy!

crab ragoon, when made right
for our first actual date beyond cofee I took my SO to a sushi place since she had never been exposed to the awesomeness that is sushi and it had been forever since I indulged. We ordered a california roll and something called "beyond ragoon".... I taste-gasm'd so many times I think I made her jealous

German Potato Salad - my mommy still makes it for me when I go home, but it is A LOT of work and takes forever! That just makes it all the more better when I can have it.
My two best friends, Ben and Jerry.
I would give ANYTHING to have a Baskin Robbins nearby....unfortunately, there isn't.
Don't throw stuff at me now, but I make a daily trip to Starbucks. I need my carmel frappucino with extra carmel, or I can't function.

Ooh, I forgot. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I HAVE to have my bacon, egg, & cheese on a bagel. Freshly cooked right in front of you in my school's student center. Sooooo good.

Well, chocolate, obviously. At Easter time it's Cadbury Creme Eggs. It's probably a good thing for me that they only sell them for a couple months out of the year.
Ice cream...preferably Breyers vanilla fudge or chocolate and vanilla or mint chocolate chip...
Ovaltine and milk
Lipton noodle soup (the dry mix, I let it simmer for 10-15 minutes before I eat it)
Scrambled eggs but my mommy has to make 'em. If anyone else makes 'em it's just food, not comfort food.

Peanut Butter, mostly any form, but the all time best is peanut butter and bologna sandwichs (or roll-up) on white bread.
A close second is either a cucumber sandwich, or black olives & cream cheese on brown bread.
It's a whole other story if I'm too ill/out-of-sorts to cook, then I get picky :)

Ugh. I DO NOT like Rachael Ray. She just irritates the holy blue f:censored: ck out of me.
ANYWAYS, I've got two different types of comfort food:
Homemade-Mom's Chicken casserole with rice. So delicious, so simple, so perfect. Take a bunch of chicken thighs with legs attached, and place in a roaster pan. Sprinkle with garlic powder, pepper, and I like to add cayenne pepper. In seperate bowl, add 1 can tomato soup and one can of cream of mushrom soup. Add some vegetable that cook well (I add 1 onion, a handful of sliced mushrooms and a handful of diced green peppers) Mix well and spoon over chicken. Bake at 350 F for 2 hours or until chicken juice runs clear.
Resturant-An A&W mozza burger with pickles, onion rings with extra seasoning, and a tall mug of frosty root beer. Takes me back to my high school job and all of the cheeky shenanigans we used to do. (To complete the nostalgia, blare 'Superman" by Goldfinger and the first half od Red Hot Chili Peppers album "Californication".)

Pizza bianca. That's pizza with a cheese base instead of tomato, and it has to have lots of cheese and garlic on it. Failing that the cheese-coated garlic bread that Pizza Hut makes.
Chocolate...my favourite is milk, mostly; white is too sickly and dark too bitter. Yorkies are lovely, as are most things made by Cadbury's. Thorntons and Montezuma's choccy is fantastic though, as are Tolblerones.
Madeira cake. Absolutely GORGEOUS. I want my wedding cake to be made out of this stuff.
Raw cake mix. Don't ask.
And recently, plain bagels, lightly toasted with garlic cheese spread.
And strawberry liquer.....last year me and a friend used to take swigs from the bottle before having to go to our English lectures, which were headed by one of the best English lecturers in England who was bald, tattooed, 6'4'' and wore skin-tight cycling shorts while running up and down shouting passionatly at us about queer theory...can you see why we needed it?

Roast chicken, with strips of bacon laid over the breast as it roasts, and bread sauce with plenty of onion. Serve with a glass of R Whites lemonade (the specific brand is important) with a teaspoon of brown sugar added to make it fizz up more. Whammmo, one is instantly transported back 30 years, to the kitchen of my grandparents' home.
For speedy comfort foods, though, it has to be ramen noodles. Nissin spicy garlic flaour, for preference.

Godiva hot chocolate, drunk from my tea-for-one set (must be done this way). Make it with whole milk, then add heavy cream. By now, my arteries are bulletproof, lol.
Cream of chicken soup.
Chicken in a Biskit.
Mountain Dew, especially the Orange flavored (don't remember the name right now.)
Sobe. Nirvana, Lizard Lightning, Dragon.
Damnit, now I'm hungry.....

I believe you are speaking of Live Wire, while Code Red is my favorite, Live Wire is a close 2nd for me. It tastes like fizzy TANG!

I totally agree. I have other reasons for hating her. She was at Store1 doing a talk/signing and it was PACKED...like, over 1000 people. I am good friends with the woman who was the Community Relations Manager at the time, so she was in charge of all the hoopla. RR (or at least, her people) had promised to stay until all the books were signed, and she decided she was tired and left...with 500 people still waiting. A lot of them returned the books since they couldn't get them signed.
Ooh, Barefootgirl - Roast chicken...mashed potatoes, gravy (mom's gravy), corn or peas, Pillsbury crescent rolls drippy with butter...yummy
Sons of Dragons - white chocolate is not chocolate. It's blasphemy to even call it that. :D I'm not a big fan of dark chocolate, either. Only in small doses and when I'm in the mood for it, which is rare. (I found Cadbury dark chocolate Mini Eggs this year, and they are not bad, but I can only eat one at a time and I have to let them melt, not chew them.) And by raw cake mix, I am assuming you mean the mixed batter, not the powder out of the box (?:p). That's yummy...brownie batter, too.

Aye, I know it's not chocolate. But what else ya gonna call the crap, and it does have some cocoa remnant in it even if it is only the fatty sludge...coming from a country who routinly puts vegetable oil in its chocolate.
Mini Eggs - British Easter staple. Love 'em.
Dark Chocolate - I was once given this bar of 87% dark I had NO IDEA IN HELL what to do with. I eventually mixed some of it into a cake...
And speaking of cake - yes, the mixed batter. I haven't eaten the whole bowlful yet (YET) but my favourite part of making cakes is, of course, licking the bowl squeaky clean.....:D
