  • I'LL REPORT YOU TO THE POLICE!!

I was talking to my workplace today [I'm on leave ATM] about a personal matter [see my new blog below...ugh, just ugh], and the topic of a customer I'd dealt with a while back came up. Seems she was a cow then, and she's still a cow now.

She sent me an email to my work address, and received the auto-reply stating that I'm on leave and due to return March 2014. This displeased her, and so she called in. I'm told the conversation went as follows:

    SC - the stupid cow
TL - team leader who took the call

TL - 'Hi there Mrs Murray, my name's David, I'm on of the team leaders here. Your calls been transferred to me because I understand you have an issue with your policy? How can I help you today?'

SC - 'No, I need to speak with Tilly! How many times do I need to repeat myself before you people start to pay attention, huh? I spoke to her last time, she's messed up my policy and I need her to fix it TODAY'

TL - 'I'm sorry Mrs Murray, as my staff member advised you just a moment ago, Tilly is on leave from work and wont be returning until March of next year. I can certainly assist you with any enquiries you may have'

SC - 'NO! God! How many times do I need to repeat myself! Tilly stuffed up my policy last week and she WILL fix it TODAY'

TL - 'Mrs Murray, Tilly has been on leave sine March of this year, it is not possible for have touched your policy last week'

SC - 'NO, SHE DID! She declined my claim! And she WILL pay it today!'

*At this point Dave's been reading through the notes on the policy*

TL - 'Ma'am I can see that you did indeed have a dental claim rejected last week. I can also see that you've called about this numerous times, and been informed each and every time that it was the actual DENTIST that denied the claim, not us, and the reason they wouldn't put the claim through is because you haven't actually had that service yet. The notes here state that we received a call fro the dentists office, advising us that you were at their location asking them to put through the claim to us a whole month prior to your dental visit actually taking place, because you wanted to receive the money now, you didn't want to wait. As such, they were refusing to lodge the claim and informed you that by law, a claim can only be lodged once a service has actually taken place. Tilly is in no way involved in this claim or transaction ma'am, in fact, I can see that you've only ever spoken with her once or twice before, both times regarding payment on your policy'

    SC - 'NO, I know that girl Tilly denied my claim, I want that money today!;

TL - 'Mrs Murray, I've already informed you the reason that your claim was denied, and that Tilly is in no way involved in this transaction'

SC - 'IM GOING TO GO TO THE POLICE!'

TL, trying not to laugh - 'Uh....okay, and what are they going to assist you with Mrs Murray'

SC - 'It's ILLEGAL for you people to be doing this! If you dont give me my money today, I'll go to the police and have you all arrested! You got that!'

TL - 'Okay ma'am, you do what you feel you need to do. In relation to your claim, please keep in mind going forward that claims can only be lodged once a service has actually taken place'

SC - 'YOURE ALL GOING TO JAIL!'

    Oh lovely.

Is it bad that I want to see her actually TRY and go to the police? They'll laugh in her face and possibly even arrest her for trying to scam the insurance company...

My dentist will send a quote to the insurance company to check how much they will pay for a specific procedure, but no money changes hand until the procedure is done. And even then, I have to pay the whole thing, then I get my money back from the insurance company.

My guess is that CowLady wants the money and the dentist will never see her again.

Isn't putting in a claim and getting the money without the procedure having happened yet insurance fraud? o.o

It's so I can get ideas out of my head, I decided to put it in a blog in case people are bored or are curious as to the (many) things in progress.

Yes, but only if you don't actually have the work done. IIRC, I had some roof damage and got a check from the insurance company before the roofer finished the new roof.

I can't remember if I had a contract with the roofer beforehand or not, though.

What surprises me is that this nitwit's policy hasn't been canceled through her sheer bitchery. Must be a group policy.

That's what I was thinking too.
Cos who's to say she doesn't decide to cancel the appointment and pocket the money and run?

Hell I'd want to laugh at her "i'll call the police" threat too - cos I'm really sure the cops would find her attempts to commit fraud very interesting.

Reminds me of the time I had a 'lady' tell me that I was going to take out my own checkbook and pay for her claim out of my personal checking account. The scary thought was that she was serious.

Did I read that OP right? Is the SC complaining that they couldn't get payment for something that had not been done yet?

If that's the case, I want whatever they're smoking.

As for submitting claims, my insurance provider (note: NOT linked to a job) allows for us to take a card in, the receptionist or whatever swipes it and the claim is done right then and there. I just have to pay the gap.

Sadly, we aren't able to cancel someone's policy based on this. They're all individual policies, no 'group' policies.
For her policy to have been cancelled, she would have had to have committed actual fraud [not just attempted but committed] and even then, it would be along, drawn out process to get her policy cancelled.
First management would ask her to return the funds she obtained through deceit.
Then they would attempt to 'educate' her on why what she did was 'wrong' [ILLEGAL].

Then they would ask that she not do it again.

Yeah. This is how this kind of thing is happened. Doesnt really do anything to deter fraud, if you ask me...

IOW, first the soft cushons and then the comfy chair. You're right tilly, not much of a fraud deterrent.
