Ha, I once took a nap when I was sick and woke convinced it was the next day. Took a while for my family to get me to believe I had only been asleep for a couple hours or so. I was positive I had slept the night through.

Yeah, this has happened to me at least once. Fell asleep, woke up some time later, feeling quite refreshed, as if I'd been asleep for more than the 8 hrs needed.

It was a day when my shift started at 8:45am, and I look at the time and see 4:00 or something. I'm up, rushing to get ready, thinking "Ohhhh shit I fucked up..."

Then realize it's DARK outside, and realize it's only 4 AM.

That's about when I started cursing at myself.

I've done fireheart's and Mooncat's things. I've also showed up at work when I wasn't scheduled.
Done that too.

I had been working 8:30-5:30 for the last 4-5 weeks and then one day I WASN'T scheduled to work until 12:30.

I still rocked up at 8:30. Once I'd figured out what happened, I went to Wendys (Ice Cream parlour down here), ordered a drink and sat down at the internet cafe until it was time for me to go to work.

How about showing up to work, afraid that you're not going to make it on time, and then finding out that you weren't even SCHEDULED to work that day?

In the 4 years I've had in Retail, that's happened to me only twice. The last time it happened, it was a Saturday and I was already fully awake, so I decided, "What the hell? I'll just tell my manager I'm clocking in and do some work anyway."
My boss didn't mind at all! She was actually glad to see me that day and it turned out to be a busy shift, so my team would have been completely behind on our work if it wasn't for my help, and it was a good day. One of those few you get in Retail where you clock out and think to yourself, "I love my job!"

One of my friends got herself all ready and to uni on time...then found out that she was 2 weeks early because she had the wrong date!
I had a student show up 4 weeks late one semester, but begged me not to drop him. He claimed he forgot the start date. He never did acquire the text, and then could not understand why he did not pass the course.

i've done that more times than i can remember. especially if i fall asleep early in the afternoon... wake up and see that it's 9 and think "OMG i'm late!" until I finally realize, um... "it's dark outside."

one coworker once told me about how his buddy was both early and late for work on the same day. the power went off so his alarm clock switched to battery power and ran faster. He got up, went to work and found out... he was 2 hours early. So he took a nap in the car... and ended up late!

Haven't done that at work, but have with school. In high school I used to meet up with BFF (she lived across the street) and we'd go catch the bus together. Sometimes, it would be a late arrival day or a holiday and I would forget. I'd tap on her window at 6am, and she'd wake up groggy and pissed off. Oops.

Once I thought I slept through my alarm. I was freaking out because I thought I was late late late. I set my alarm a couple hours early so i can hit snooze a few times and slowly wake. Well, in all my panic, i didn't check my backup ont he cell phone-clock. Turns out I'd only maybe snoozed twice (rather than my normal 8ish +) and accidentally bumped the wrong buttons, setting my clock forward to 11 something in the process. it wasn't even 7 am yet, by my phone.
