I've been there, done that. I was only off an hour though, and I think it was around one of the two daylight saving time switches. I woke up thinking I was an hour late, but was actually not even time to leave yet. I realized it after a panic attack, of course. Oh, and one of my coworkers actually did show up to work an hour early once, because that was the time she was used to goin in at, and they moved her to an hour later to do second till. she stayed and worked, but it was still funny!

I have to admit to doing that with every clock I have that is digital

I had something similar last night. Normally, I don't wake up before my alarm clock. Due to my schedule being weird, though, I had a nap yesterday, and went to bed early. I woke up and started freaking out, wondering why my alarm hadn't gone off. I looked at the time...12:48am. My alarm doesn't go off until 2:30am. For some reason though, when I first woke up I was convinced I was late.

I have done the same things. Woke up one morning earlier than the alarm. I was supposed to start work at 5.45 am, got dressed, went to work, rang the buzzer and got let in to the amusement of the guy who opened the door. He looked at me and mentioned that I was there early.
Thinking I still had about ten minutes till i had to start, I just replied confusedly, I start at quarter to six.
I still didn't realize until he told me that the time was quarter to five.
Ok, so I had an hour to kill before I had to start, I thought that I would make use of Mcdonalds recently opening 24 hours and go and get breakfast - to find out that they dont start serving breakfast till 5am.

The other episode that I had, I had gone in on Sunday, done a four hour shift, gone home and had an afternoon nap.
Half asleep, I looked at the clock and noticed that it was 5.00. Eeekk - I had to start at work in 45 minutes.
I got up, grouchy because what the hell was my boyfriend doing playing loud music at 5am for??? Grumped at him as I started to get ready for work.
As I was getting ready for work, my boyfriend is asking me what I am doing.
          Me "Getting ready for work"
          Bf " I thought you'd worked today"
          Me " I DO work today, that's why I'm getting ready - I start in 30 mins"
Bf "What, are you doing two shifts today?"
Me "No, just one 5.45 to 2.45"

He eventually worked out that I thought that it was Monday morning and that I was grumpy with the loudish music, and then he got me to realize that it was still Sunday night and that I didnt have to go into work.

At least he didn't let me drive down to work and let me be all confused about why the shop was still wide open and serving when I was thinking that I had to go in an open up an empty shop.
That could have been kind of embarrasing

When I was 9 or 10, I fell asleep in the afternoon, and my Mom didn't wake me up for dinner (I hadn't been feeling well.) I woke up and everybody was asleep. Looked at the clock and it said 7:30. It was winter, so everything was dark, and I didn't know if it was 7:30 am or 7:30 pm. Now in the mornings, I was always the first one up (have a younger brother whom I'd wake.) Turning on the radio wouldn't help as I'm deaf, and the TV was on the blink at the time. So I sat in the living room reading a book waiting to see if my parents or my brother woke up to find out if it was morning or night. Turns out it was night and everybody decided to have a nap after dinner.

Ha, I once took a nap when I was sick and woke convinced it was the next day. Took a while for my family to get me to believe I had only been asleep for a couple hours or so. I was positive I had slept the night through.

Yeah, this has happened to me at least once. Fell asleep, woke up some time later, feeling quite refreshed, as if I'd been asleep for more than the 8 hrs needed.

It was a day when my shift started at 8:45am, and I look at the time and see 4:00 or something. I'm up, rushing to get ready, thinking "Ohhhh shit I fucked up..."

Then realize it's DARK outside, and realize it's only 4 AM.

That's about when I started cursing at myself.

I've done fireheart's and Mooncat's things. I've also showed up at work when I wasn't scheduled.
                  Done that too.

I had been working 8:30-5:30 for the last 4-5 weeks and then one day I WASN'T scheduled to work until 12:30.

I still rocked up at 8:30. Once I'd figured out what happened, I went to Wendys (Ice Cream parlour down here), ordered a drink and sat down at the internet cafe until it was time for me to go to work.

How about showing up to work, afraid that you're not going to make it on time, and then finding out that you weren't even SCHEDULED to work that day?

In the 4 years I've had in Retail, that's happened to me only twice. The last time it happened, it was a Saturday and I was already fully awake, so I decided, "What the hell? I'll just tell my manager I'm clocking in and do some work anyway."
My boss didn't mind at all! She was actually glad to see me that day and it turned out to be a busy shift, so my team would have been completely behind on our work if it wasn't for my help, and it was a good day. One of those few you get in Retail where you clock out and think to yourself, "I love my job!"

One of my friends got herself all ready and to uni on time...then found out that she was 2 weeks early because she had the wrong date!
I had a student show up 4 weeks late one semester, but begged me not to drop him. He claimed he forgot the start date. He never did acquire the text, and then could not understand why he did not pass the course.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

i've done that more times than i can remember. especially if i fall asleep early in the afternoon... wake up and see that it's 9 and think "OMG i'm late!" until I finally realize, um... "it's dark outside."

one coworker once told me about how his buddy was both early and late for work on the same day. the power went off so his alarm clock switched to battery power and ran faster. He got up, went to work and found out... he was 2 hours early. So he took a nap in the car... and ended up late!

Haven't done that at work, but have with school. In high school I used to meet up with BFF (she lived across the street) and we'd go catch the bus together. Sometimes, it would be a late arrival day or a holiday and I would forget. I'd tap on her window at 6am, and she'd wake up groggy and pissed off. Oops.

Once I thought I slept through my alarm. I was freaking out because I thought I was late late late. I set my alarm a couple hours early so i can hit snooze a few times and slowly wake. Well, in all my panic, i didn't check my backup ont he cell phone-clock. Turns out I'd only maybe snoozed twice (rather than my normal 8ish +) and accidentally bumped the wrong buttons, setting my clock forward to 11 something in the process. it wasn't even 7 am yet, by my phone.
