  • Stupid Corporate complaints

Recently, we got a complaint about our store that involved several depts. The Complaint had apparently entered within 20 minutes of opening. At that time the deli, bakery and seafood have most if not all of their days product loaded in the display cases. However they may be putting the finishing touches on the displays.

    Enter SC to the deli:
They are the only customer and one employee is stocking and facing some of the display cases, while other work in the back to help customers. The SC goes to the employee sticking the display and asks for some meats/cheese/salads whatever.

The customer is "flabbergasted at the horrible service and ineptitude of the women who told me that <CW behind the counter> would assist me."

They then find the next dept to visit, the bakery:

It seem bakery had two people on at the time, one was working in the back on some special orders, the other was putting a few more items in the pastry/muffin display case. The SC asked the person putting the product in the case for some help. According to the SC they said "let me just finish putting these few items out."

That is where they become a real SC. In their complaint they state that the employee took their sweet time, taking almost 20 minutes and refusing their gracious offer to help the employee. In realty, the SC started grabbing muffins and pastry off the pan the employe was holding and tossing them the in the case, destroying muffins and pastry befre calling the employee a c**t and stompig off.

They will come back, as long as they have a guarantee from the manager that they will get first priority over any other customers and a written apology from the "rude" employees. I'm hoping this was joke, but knowing SCs...

What I like about my restaurant is that as soon as someone starts cussing, they are outta there and any complaint is obsolete. I love it when a complaint turns that ugly, because we then just ask them to leave. The look on their faces is priceless!

From what I've been able to tell about your company, they'll shower the SC in freebies and somebody will get fired.

I'm sure they will get a gift card, for their trouble and to keep them as a "valued customer."

It takes something either really, really really dumb/illegal/fraudulent to get fired on the spot or, sadly, many, many years of incompetence.

There are few things worse than a SC "helping" the employees to expedite the process. It never works.

On this last Christmas Day, we had more registers up full-time than usual (cashiers on the "back-up registers" all day instead of just when called for), so even the times we did get lines they were moving pretty quickly, and most people were pretty nice.

At one point, a lady I had started to ring stepped away from the immediate counter for a second, to get something from a display nearby. A man walked up and tossed his stuff at me (which I hate, and if I see someone's stuff sliding across the counter, after they've thrown it, I'll watch it hit the floor)...

I told him, "I'm sorry, I'm in the middle of helping this lady, but that gentleman will be able to take care of you," and point at the person standing directly across from me (maybe 2 steps away from where the customer was standing, not across the store or anything).

The guy shoots me a *dirty* look, snatches his stuff up, and grumble-stomps his way over to get his 2 items rung up without having to wait.

As he stomps out the door, he mutters something a little more loudly while shooting more eye-daggers in my general direction, and the lady I'd been helping looked at me shocked, and asked "did you hear what he said??"

Apparently, because of my sheer audacity in suggesting that he get helped immediately, rather than having to wait for me to finish helping the customer whose items I was in the middle of ringing up, he felt it necessary to call me a "fuckin' bitch."

Which at that point, frankly- I was at work, I knew his attitude, I wasn't really surprised. The other customers, though, who were just getting some last-minute stuff on Christmas and had by and large been fairly cheery, were rather shocked and dismayed.

... at my massive incompetence, of course, why else? ;-)

                    Hmmm.

I should start calling the corporate offices of random places and complaining about nothing and make up stories. They, of course, will apologize profusely and give me free things. And make me their top priority the minute I grace them with my presence. This will only be after I receive my groveling written apologies from the peons who dared to not drop everything to serve me immediately.

Gee, what a great idea !!

No. It just takes actually doing your job, competently, in Corporateland.

Hey, I made my first quote. I never knew how before.

Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

FYI, I started another thread about the SC's followup complaint to the complaint.
