Default Quick and nasty sighting - with bonus SC ownage

Was at the checkout after the usual food shopping when I heard someone screaming a few lanes over.

SC: WELL? WHEN SOMEONE WISHES YOU A NICE DAY IT'S POLITE TO RETURN THE FAVOUR!
Cashier: ...
SC:YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ATTROCIOUS! GET ME YOUR MANAGER!
Cashier: [turns on light]
SC: WELL? ARE YOU EVEN GOING TO DEIGN TO SPEAK TO ME? ARE YOU TOO GOOD TO SPEAK TO MERE CUSTOMERS NOW?
Cashier: ...
Manager: [running over] Ma'am, please keep your voice down.
SC: THIS BITCH WON'T SPEAK TO ME!
Manager: Ma'am, she has laryngitis. She can't speak. She should be off sick but came in to help us while we are short staffed.
SC:... oh
Totally Cool Customer next to SC: Hey, there's a guy outside in a wheelchair. Why don't you go yell at him for not helping you carry your bags?
SC [bright red] grabs her things and runs from store.

I wished the cashier with no voice a 'sucky-customer-free day' as I left. Her smile lit up the room, I swear.

Stuff like this is why I don't like going into work when I'm sick.

I wonder what would happen to Miss SC if the cashier was deaf?

We actually had a deaf delivery driver at one time. she had a card explaining the situation and a place for her to write the total to show to the customer.

never had any complaints either.

A manager took a sick, but good-hearted employee's side? I may faint from the shock!

Though the good customer (I won't call them a mere consumer) had an excellent burn line to the SC.

I love this story, but it seems like it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble if the cashier had posted a sign that she could point to.

SC was a total bitch about it, but expecting the cashier to speak politely is not unreasonable.

And we know how well SC's read and comprehend signs...

I'm quite sure the employee at least tried to, maybe, move her mouth to indicate she has laryngitis and the customer was simply too occupied with the "atrocious" customer service to even acknowledge the employee was making an effort.

There are more ways than just with signs to indicate you are temporarily unable to speak.
