I like the rules, too...
This is the first and only online community I have joined and consistently visit/share my thoughts with. I have read comments in other online forums and people get downright nasty- needless to say, I never signed up on those boards.
Fratching was created specifically for the controversial debate, so I don't mind being told to take comments there. That's what it was created for. (Although, mostly, I try to stay away from making comments that are 'questionable' under the rules- which I read when I first signed up, and will check again if changes are noted)
I mean, hell, I've had people disagree with things I've said. Sometimes, people jump to conclusions. But I know that mostly, tone can't be derived from written words. And sometimes, misunderstandings happen. If something like that occurs, I just agree to disagree, or don't respond (or at least not emotionally). No point getting upset with one another. We're all here to support one another, but once in awhile, we are going to butt heads. Better to let it go than start a full blown argument (I don't mean we can't offer differing viewpoints, but no point in getting out of hand with it- just back off if you feel that you can't keep it civil)
I am grateful that our Mods are here to enforce these things. I LIKE that there are no flame wars and that someone is there to look out and prevent them. I LIKE bragging to my BF (who teases me about my online geek-fest) that no, there really AREN'T nasty people here.
