Trying to change my avatar

I was trying to change my avatar and got the following error message:

This GIF image has the incorrect file extension.

I don't know what that means. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Check the size of it. It can't be larger that 19.5KB and 100x100.

GIF's work fine.

Check the tile of the file. It needs to end in .gif

Maybe you are using one that has something added to it at the end.
