Attempted repairs didn't work so well, but they borked a spare database instead. Consider me relieved. However, I'm confident we can get the database back if everything falls over. We're going to ponder this and look for other options.
Still, it seems to be moving nice and quick for the moment...
On the plus side, this outage finally gave us some new insight. We'll know more tomorrow as to whether or not this new insight will allow us to actually fix the problem or not.
Finally, some good news on this thread that we can give!
Thanks to some fortunate timing last night, we got some new data that explained why the outages were occurring overnight. We had to wait until fairly late tonight to run tests to prove it one way or the other, so, unfortunately, there was another outage tonight.
However, I've just completed some tests and modifications. The overnight outages should not occur anymore. This means that the outages that we were seeing in the time frame of 4:30am to 5:30am GMT should now be gone.
Other outages, we're still working on. And we need those reports, definitely. Please post them when you see them.
Just had to share some good news here finally. And I have to thank Broomjockey: He got a hold of me during the outage last night, and that was why we found this issue.
I got one at approx. 10:30 am (Central time). :sigh:
