Minimum character post length

Just curious, why there's a minimum 10 character post size, I only just discovered it when posting a reply to something I quoted, and it won't count the characters in the quote tags.

It's to prevent people posting just a smiley or "lol' or 'me too' or anything like that. This is a content board with a policy against post padding, so that was the compromised reached.

4chan is a website, which I do not recommend you visit, as it's always described in such colourful terms such as "toilet of the internet." I was merely saying that most places on the internet don't require much thinking to post on.
