  • Quoting help

I am sure the instructions are on the site somewhere but I can't find them.

How do I quote only part of a person's post and have that section be put in a box in my post?

    Two options:

    1) Click the Quote button and edit out what you don't need. If you need to do multiple posts, click the Multiquote button next to it, click Post Reply, and do the same.

    2) Type this:

    [ quote=USERNAME;123456]Quoted Text[/quote ]

    USERNAME is the poster's username.
123456 is the post ID for linking back to the post.

You don't need either. You could do:

    [ quote]Quoted Text[/quote ]
    or
    [quote=USERNAME]Quoted Text[/quote ]

    In action:

    With link and username:
    Quoth USERNAME
    lolhai
    With username:
    Quoth USERNAME
    More quotes
    With only quote:
    Quoth the poster
ETA: Had to add spaces to the examples because the quote tags were being parsed inside the code tags. Why? This kind of, you know, defeats the purpose of the codeblocks.

Site News is always the best place to find help, especially the stickied posts.

Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.
