      <reads article>

      Who in their right minds would test the car there?

      I should clarify. Vernon, BC is a logging community. This means that it is in a heavily wooded area and fairly steep slopes. It being largely surrounded by national parks means that clear land is in very short supply. Ariel navigation is often handled with either ultralights or helicopters.

      An apt comparison would be throwing a stone in a lake and being surprised it hit water.

        OMG, I completely missed that!

        Shame that tree wasn't a willow.

        lordlundar, maybe they figured at least there weren't too many buildings to hit around there ...

          WTF? According to the article, this thing can do 160 km/h (100 MPH) on land, and 65 km/h (around 40 MPH) in the air - that's SLOW. Of course, the flying speed is airspeed, not groundspeed, and 20 MPH winds are fairly common, - so the ground speed while flying could easily be cut in half. Definitely for people with more dollars than sense.
