I was referring to the OP and the restaurant that barred children altogether. I agree with you and the 'indoor voices' sign.

I'm not a mom either, but I have been referred to as a MOTHER once in a while. There is another word that usually follows that one though.

Actually, the restaurant in the OP didn't ban children.
They simply put up a sign saying they must behave and use indoor voices. They banned the one family who's kids were, literally, climbing the walls.

I must have been having one of those 'duhh' moments I spoke of on another thread. I either misread, but more probably mis-remembered, the content of the article.

I'll go back to my hole now.

I'm baffled. Why is it a terrible thing to expect that children behave in public? I'm expected to behave in public. What's the difference? Kids will be kids, but still, if you wouldn't let your kids do what ever it is they are doing at home, then they probably shouldn't be doing it in public.

Really....what is there to be offended about????
          Well fiddle dee dee!!

            PLEASE EDIT QUOTES
There's alot of things I LET them do at home that I wouldn't let them do in public.

Running around in underwear screaming like crack monkeys come to mind

I think the biggest thing is some people think it's too hard to make thier children mind in public places. And yes, it does take work to teach them what is appropriate for what place. It also sometimes mean unfinished shopping and/or meals. I've left a cart behind exactly 3 times, before my kids found out I was serious.

It's easier to let your kids run around and do as they wish. It takes much more work to teach them to be polite and decent.

I say every store and restaurant should have this sign in their window with one small adjustment:

"Any and all patrons (kids, adults and adults who never grew up included) have to behave and use their indoor voices when coming to [name of establishment]."

I mean really -- that rule out all the SC behavior we hate!! Cussing out the employees? Not behaving! Screaming on a cell phone? Not behaving AND not using your indoor voice! Demanding free things or in general being an entitlement whore? Not behaving!

Not that they would read it, but hey, a girl can dream can't she?
"The things that I remember best - those are the things I wasn't supposed to do…."
