A bunch of my friends have had little'uns recently. A lot of them who had daughters have all posted something along the lines of "Well that's X's husband born!" XD

Surprised that the republicans haven't come out in force, quite pleasantly so.

        NAAAAAAAME please Kensington P

The new baby will be the first monarch after Elizabeth the 2nd for whom the post of Queen Mother will be filled. It's a largely ceremonial role (cf. "First Lady" for Yanks) occupied by the mother of the reigning monarch. Since Charles won't ascend to the throne in his mother's lifetime, and William's mother rode with a drunk driver, there won't be a Queen Mother for either of them.

I was sort of hoping that Will and Kate's first kid would be a girl.

Me too. I think everyone wanted a Diana lookalike, it would have been nice.

              Indeed.

But thankfully everything went well and mother and child are doing fine.

Now for the next big question: what will be the name given to His Royal Highness the Prince?

              I guess in the meantime we'll stay tuned . . .

Straight up-- good for them and the British people, seriously.

I figure, we'll be seeing a lot of him, and he's a celebrity who might not clutter up the news with DUI arrests and such, so...

So was I, actually, now they've done away with (or are in the process of doing away with) that antediluvian insistence that only guys get to inherit the throne, regardless of how many girls were already waiting in line.

I told my fiance the baby's name and all he said was, "That is a very British name"...

It sounds like a royal name, so...hooray!
