  • Shoppers ignored woman dying of stab wound

    http://www.kansascity.com/115/story/176623.html

Ok. This is it. This is the moment where my faith in humanity is officially tied up, stamped on, slammed against a wall and left in a ditch to die.
This is another human being lying on the floor in front of you, in agony, dying and you can't even stop and diall 911 on your yuppie earring?
I need to curl up in a corner and rock myself for a while till my red rage passes...

"...at least one (shopper) used a cell phone to take pictures of the stabbing victim."

I think I'm going to be sick.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

OMG This is riduculas. I think I offically lost all faith in humainty. My jaw was dropped the entire time I read this. I hope these shoppers are publically humalited at the very least. Hopefully they will be proscuted but it does not sound like the District Attorny has anything to charge them with under certain law.

The problem is with this country in general. It's all about this stupid "I,I,I" and the "me,me,me" mentality. Screw everyone else, it's all about ME. That's why we now have stories of people dying on the floor in the ER.

Is that really true? How could no one have called 911??? Where were the employees of the store? Didn't someone see this woman get stabbed to begin with?

I just can't wrap my mind around that.
I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

And only 27 too. Screw humanity, I'm sick and tired of idiots like this but this took the cake. I might as well just try and stay out of the public as much as possible now. This fucking sucks.

This doesn't shock me at all. It's disgusting to me- but not a surprise.

About 15-ish years ago in my hometown a woman was stabbed to death in the parking lot of a busy shopping plaza right outside the window of a restaurant. The diners sitting in front of the window watched on as her husband (boyfriend?) beat her and stabbed her repeatedly. Apparently, this wasn't a short incident- reports were that she tried to run several times but he kept catching her. she was screaming for help and begging the people to do something...

No one helped- no one called the police.

She died in the parking lot because, apparently, dinner was more important than death.

Everyone that stepped over her should face time in court and public humiliation. The person that stopped to take cell phone pictures - should be put in jail and stabbed themselves.

I need to go watch a movie or read something else to calm my rage now

Actually this isn't all too uncommon. Have you heard of Kitty Genevese? She was walking home to her Apartment, and she was attacked, about 9 pm. There were 5 apartment complexes where she was attacked and not one person called the cops. This is because people generally take the mentality that someone else will call for help. The more people there are, the less chance of help actually getting called. So what happens is that everyone thinks that someone else will get help, and no one actually does. Psychology/Sociology classes FTW.
It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.

Man, that's awful. Somebody is bleeding to death in front of you, and you whip out your phone to take pictures????

Cell phones are wonderful things. They have buttons you can push to dial numbers such as 911 and talk to people such as the police and paramedics.

That's sad. If I ever get attacked I'd like it to happen in front of as few people as possible, so that everybody isn't standing around thinking somebody else has already called 911.

I wouldn't wish that kind of treatment on anyone, and I don't think it would be as useful as having them live with the with fact that they HELPED SOMEONE DIE for the rest of their lives.

                            It's the anger talking.

This is a sick, sick, sick thing. People are sick. This story disgusts me. How can people be so careless of others?

Read that story today in my local paper and my thought is wow I can't believe some people. I mean it took 2 minutes for someone to call 911 and another person took picture of the victim. What's wrong with some people. I mean I guess getting their shopping done was more important then helping a stab victim who was dying.

I also remember reading about Kitty Genevese in my Sociology book and why people didn't call for help. Of course, that's been decades ago and still people don't want to get involve when someone is hurt. I mean they could have at least called 911 and help stop the person who killed Ms. Genevese. I was also thinking about her when I read the story and thread.

They probably can't find the people stepped over this woman, I mean I doubt anyone is going say the ignore the victim and admit they didn't help because they know others would make them feel ashame of themselves. Of course, I hope that knowing that they let another human being die is good enough punishment and you know karma might be around the corner for them too.
