When the Russians deride your car, something needs to click.
This is true...especially after they unleased the Zaporozhets upon the planet...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZAZ. Now *that* is a piece of shit Of course we have to remember that similar comments were made about the various offerings from Japan, Korea, and even a certain German "people's car." That one was pretty bad at the beginning--it was considered amazing if you got 10,000 miles out of it! So much, that the factory sent owners a pocket watch and a letter of congratulations. Of course VW then improved things, and set a production record...which still hasn't been beaten! As for the others, they're now considered among the best companies out there.

Even if these do, somehow, enter the U.S. market (I don't see how, but then again with tainted pet food, toothpaste and toys from there, you never know) I still see it going the way of the Yugo.
I remember the Yugo . . . I heard they were so bad, people were calling them You Don't Go.

The US would be nuts to fear competition from China in the automotive market. Any country that makes cars would be nuts to fear competition from China.
I dunno. Its laughable now, but never underestimate the Red Dragon.

They own a good chunk of the US economy already. If China decides they want to market their cars in the US, the US government will probably help them (possibly by increasing taxes on Korean and Japanese imports). If China threatens to devalue the US dollar by ditching all those T-bills, the US would be wise to listen.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

Meh. They can sell the car but they can't make me buy it.

For my next vehicle, I want a small SUV. Kinda like a Honda Element. Hopefully by that time there will be more flex-fuel vehicles and/or the price of hybrids will come down. But this won't be for several more years yet.

I got to see a few Chinese electric cars on display at the recent Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Call me crazy, I don't really see people lining up for something that costs about 8 grand, can only do 30mph, and takes all day to get there No thanks, I'll stick with my Corolla.

Occasionally, I get to see the new vehicles at those shows. I got to sit in the Mini a full 2 years before they were even sold here!
