As much as I don't really like the French, I'm tired of the French jokes. Seriously, other than WWII they are actually a good military.How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately? -

OK, I'll concede that their Foreign Legion is among the best in the world, but the overall record of the French Army has not been superb over the past 200 years....
Vietnam. Butt kicked - Dien Bien Phu.
WWII - Butt kicked - Sedan. They were little outside of a parade force after that. Didn't participate in any D-Day, except for perhaps the death of some Americans in a brief and stupid decision by the Vichy commander in Algeria to follow the Nazi commands during the early part of Operation Torch.
WWI - Almost crumbled. Perhaps the most valiant defensive action in late 1914 and tenacious at Verdun. I'll grant that.
Franco-Prussian War. Butt kicked - Sedan. Paris besieged. People ate leg of dog and braised elephant ear.
Napoleon got cocky. Part of Europe was not enough.
Sorry to
but France has limited power projection ability. They dropped out of NATO for 30 years.

It wasn't a joke against the French or France itself, just commenting on their stance over the past few years (rather agressive) against "US agression" in Iraq and Afganistan, plus the US's stance towards North Korea and now they're threatening war against Iran.
For a nation that preached diplomacy diplomacy diplomacy during Afganistan and Iraq this is a little hypocritical and we all know who they'll want to lead the comaign against Iran if it comes to that, the good ole' USA.
I don't mean to start a political debat, but this article and France's statements are rather ironic to say the least.Comment
