Being in Kansas, I heard about this incident when it happened. It was just so terrible I couldn't even believe it. I've been following the trial a little bit, and I was afraid the defense was going to sway the jury with their insanity plea. There's no way she was delusional, she knew exactly what she was doing. When she showed up at home with a baby, she told her husband that she had gone to the store and given birth in a parking lot. He knew something wasn't right. I don't know if he called police, but they arrested her the next day.
Poor little girl will never know her mother. And someday, someone will have to tell her why.
