  • Writers Strike = More Reality Shows

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071127/...eality_strikes

Article mentions how in the 1988 writer's strike, "Cops" was bought and is still popular. Now with this writer's strike, more unscripted reality shows are going to be popping up. I don't know about ya'll, but I'll be popping tylenol like candy. I'm bored of reality shows. I'm not going to watch American Idol this year neither. Make some concessions to the writers, find a happy medium, and boot the reality shows to the side!

Has anyone seen "Time Bandits"? Remember at the beginning the boy's parents are watching a show called "Your Money or Your Life"? It's where you bet your money or your life and if you're wrong you die? I'm having nightmares that we're going to have that soon.

I was hoping one of the unconfirmed rumors was true about NBC Universal. The rumor stated that if the strike went on for a while, they might start requesting some more shows from the WWE to fill in the void (mainly more episodes of Saturday Night's Main Event would probably happen). Other than that, too bad they probably wouldn't bring back Tough Enough.
Answers are easy...it is asking the right questions which is hard.

It's stuff like this that makes me glad that I don't watch much TV. I hate reality shows to begin with and there hasn't been anything good on. Now if only I could keep Fox Soccer Channel and GOLTV then I'd be set.

I hate most Reality shows. A few are good, but they are the ones that don't last.

What annoys me is that not only will there be more, crappier, reality shows, but the shows I do like aren't going to be coming to DVD any time soon now, since the season itself is likely to be pushed back so far. And the ones that "started filming" before the strike are likely to pull that half-season crap that Battlestar Galactica did with its season 2.0 and 2.5.

And add to that the fickleness of the general viewing public and half the shows won't be coming back next fall because most of their fans will have lost interest.

Happened back in 1988 with a number of popular shows (most notably Moonlighting with Bruce Willis and Cybill Sheppard) when that writer's strike lasted for approximately 6 months.

I guess for me, there's always music channels, the Bio channel and reruns of SVU once the new eps of "My Name is Earl" runs dry.

If Heroes goes away I will cry like a baby. I'm not even kidding, which is the sad and true part.
