  • Check out this INSANE email this boss sent to employees...

Apparently, 3 turned in their two-weeks notice all on the same day, for "better opportunities". The boss apparently didn't like it, and the following email resulted from it...

    https://preview.redd.it/32t46wv7xsu8...24aa7b5dbd6d25

I read this to my wife, and I told her if I got an email like that, I'd start looking for a new role immediately, and I would not put in a notice. I'd wait until the Friday before I started my new role, and I would just resign, "effective immediately".

Of course, if I had money to last me five or six months in my bank account, I might just resign that very day.

I read that on another site, and my first thought was: 'Well, wave goodbye to a majority of your remaining staff '

Obliviously, the boss is pretty full of themself, if they expect to be able to enforce it.
Just sliding down the razor blade of life.

Are we sure this isn't parody?

If I were one of the recipients of this, could verify the boss was serious, and it were at all humanly possible, they'd get roughly 3 minutes notice of my departure.

Yeah, I'd be quitting ASAP if I got that kind of email. Besides, if someone wants to quit, and you won't let them, do you REALLY want them to keep coming into work with that mindset?

The boss would probably threaten to withhold their last paycheck or something. I think that's illegal in the U.S. (and I assume most countries).

And a 3 month notice is unheard of. Who's gonna tell a prospective employer, "My current employer said they need a 3 month notice"?

The idea that he is going to update the employee handbook, implies that this is possibly the owner. I would walkout with saying a word. They can fire me for NCNS

If he is not the owner, then the owner and HR are getting the email.

            First the disclaimer: IANAL
Can't require an at-will employee to give notice (that is a two way street). Two weeks is a COURTESY.
Can't do that to a contract employee without the employee agreeing to the new terms of the contract.

Yeah, I have to wonder how many people quit in short order after receiving that email. I don't think his email is going to have the intended effect (or maybe it is the intended effect, to just have fewer people working more). Also, the guy said that he'd cut their pay by $6 per hour if they put in a notice. That's just going to cause people to find jobs, and resign "effective immediately".

Then, considering the email, they'd likely have to fight for their last paycheck.

No kidding, that and the pay cut would make for some seriously disgruntled staffers. I'll leave the rest to everyone's imagination.

                  I can see it now...
"Hey boss, I'm turning in my 3 month notice."
"How can you do this to your coworkers! How selfish! Get back to your desk and get to work"
Five minutes later the boss sees the employee playing games on their phone
"What are you doing?! Get to work!"
"Nah, I'm good. You are cutting my wage by six dollars so I'm giving you the kind of work that pays for. Besides, what are you going to do to stop me? Fire me? Oh no... How will I survive... I'll have to look for a new job.... Oh wait..."

And I'm quite sure they could conceive a LOT of sabotage.
