  • 10 reasons employees don't get fired

At the sister store of the Gaming Store I worked at, #5 was the reason one employee was kept for so long. Then the guy left on his own and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

See, that's a question that's been baffling me for a long time: even though I was clearly not mature enough to be behind a counter or at the gas pumps when I was working for a convenience store, why was it that the manager (now owner) never took the many opportunities he had to fire me? Looking at some of the reasons, I can kinda see where he may have been coming from.

Reason #2 - I was rarely late and would often either voluntarily or semi-voluntarily fill in for people. (By semi-voluntarily I mean I was kinda pushed into it.)

Reason #3 - My low wage seemed to offset any damage I was doing.

Reason #4 - I could have been one of those less than savory folks who skimmed off the till, I suppose.

Reason #6 - Yeah, I suppose he felt sorry for me...after all, this was my first real job. While he does exhibit some annoying personality traits, he does tend to give people a chance.

So yeah. It does kinda help me see things from a different perspective.
