  • RIP Sam Keith (comic artist "The Maxx")

Comic book writer and artist Sam Keith passed away March 15, 2026, due to compliations from Lewy Body Dementia.

His art was really different than much of the other stuff on the shelves in the 90's, more like it belonged in "Heavy Metal Magazine" than a Marvel or DC comic. And "The Maxx" was a fascinating read. Haven't seen the animated series, can't compare.

This is the same condition that Robin Williams had...

    Rest in peace, sir.

I never read the books, but I did watch the animated series on and off. Absolutely stylish as h**l. Pretty stunning visuals. I don't remember the stories, though.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers
